I heard from admissions that the decisions being released prior the Feb decision date were all of applicants that qualified for merit aid @USD123…from what I understood those hearing later may also qualify for merit but those not qualifying for merit would not hear earlier. Hope that helps.
Fingers crossed here for merit money since it’s OOS daughter’s top pick (and about $12K more a year than well respected in-state flagship). She applied on Dec. 1st - 3.5 UW/4.5W GPA and 2070 SAT; school does not rank, but unlikely she is in the top 10% (school is very competitive, #1 in state ranking, etc.).
@SpartanDrew Decisions will be sent by Feb15 for if you applied by Dec 1. It appears that decisions have been trickling out since December. From past data it appears the bulk will be sent Friday the 13th:(.
OK. I can’t figure out why some have had decisions earlier. My S applied back in September. At that time it said early decisions would be released the week of Feb 16 so the fact that some have heard seems odd to me
OK thanks for the scoop. I think my S has slim chances of getting in honestly being out of state. He’s already been accepted and plans to attend Michigan St in mechanical engineering and is hopeful to attend Clemson for grad school at CUICAR but we want to see if he gets in for undergrad anyway. Loved the campus and the program but the $$ we save on his undergrad at MSU can help pay for grad school
Is anyone stuck between Clemson and University of Alabama? I’m into both (Clemson with a $7500 scholarship - not sure if into honors yet & Alabama into the Honors College with full tuition [$24,950/yr]) and just don’t know where to be. They both seem good! Any opinions?
Engineering? Clemson is the better engineering school right now but Bama’s rep is growing. $70K over four years is a nice savings. Have you visited both campuses? Have you looked at other aspects like living and learning communities, greek life, town life, on campus activities? College is more than classes.
My DD narrowed her school choice to Clemson and Alabama as an engineer major. She was admitted to Clemson in November with a very nice merit scholarship, but it did not compare to Alabama. She ultimately chose Alabama strickly from an economic standpoint. Clemson does have a higher ranked engineering program, but after researching the two programs, she decided the additional cost was not worth it in the long run. Millions have been invested into Alabama’s engineering program, but it will take time for it to move up in the rankings. There is a lot of positive reviews already. She is very excited to attend Alabama and is a finalist in the CBHP. It would be great if Clemson would offer OOS tution waiver scholarships like Alabama.
@nstraub Both. I got a “Tigertown Bound” email in school, and the packet arrived that afternoon. I’m OOS, so their timely arrival wasn’t planned (I think?), but it was awesome to get them both!
