I just received a letter from Northeastern stating that I have been deferred to the regular applicant pool. This is extremely disappointing to me since this school was my top choice. I applied to the 6 year pharmd program. My stats were 3.5 UW GPA, and 1190 on the SAT. I believe that my ECs are pretty strong, and I spent months on my essay. Did anyone else have this happen to them?

I was deferred and it was my match/safety w/ a 3.6 and 1240...I guess I'll send them my 1st semester grades and ACT score. I didn't think I would get deferred

Accepted!

27 ACT
3.8UW GPA

equinoxr, i got into the pharmd program, 3.2 gpa and 1200 SAT nj resident . were u in state? that could be a factor and if there were alot of kids applying from your school early action they wont take that many, at most 2

Hey, I'm from Rhode Island, which is right next to Mass. I know of about 5 other people from my school who applied and they all got in. (My stats are better or equal to most.) I'm still kind of mad, and I'm too worried about hearing from them again.

Also, my class ranking isn't too bad...I'm 39/348. I'm in three AP classes and two honors this year, and made high honors first quarter. But, apparently, none of that matters.

In addition (sorry for being so talkative) only one of the others were for pharmacy and he got in.

hey I'm from RI too...where in RI are you from?

equinoxair, i bet u it had something to do with the so many people who applied from your school...for early action/ decision there's no way schools cantake so many people from one hs until they see the regular decision batch as well, plus sum1 else got into the pharm program at your school you said? that may be another factor

I'm from Cumberland. I know that those are all factors, but I'm just mad that I didn't get into my top choice college.

I got my letter today finally! I'm so excited. Northeastern has been my first choice since sophomore year. I will be there as long as the financial aid and scholarships are there too. I got accepted into the Pharmacy program. I'm from Florida - 1260 SAT 4.6W 3.8UW GPA

I Got Innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

yay! i found out that two of my closest friends both got in early action!!!!! i'm so happy for them! :-)

My Daughter is a Freshman in Business. She received her financial packet (good $$$ too) in early Feb. which was just a few weeks after receiving her Congratulations letter. The money (along with co-op) was her main reason for selecting Northeastern over UCSD and USC Marshall School of business. Congratulations to all! My California Girl loves Boston.

Waitingmom...would you happen to know why I got deferred? 3.6 UW and 1240 SAT composite. Lots of leadership / business roles.

parikhs-I wish I had an answer re: your deferral. Last year my daughter was deferred to 2 schools (Univ of Mich and CMU) and was admitted to schools that required higher stats like USC and UCSD. My best advice is to contact the admissions office and talk to an admissions officer letting them know that you are still interested. Write a letter to add to your admissions packet that explains your interest and add anything that you have done since you sent your application. A friend of mine is the director of admissions at Chapman University and told my daughter that all contact is important and will make a difference when they are selecting between deferred students. It made a difference for my daughter at CMU and she withdrew her application at Univ of Mich so I don't know if it would have helped her there. If you really want Northeastern be persistent your stats are good. You might want to make contact with the school of business and ask them for additional advice regarding the deferral. Remember at this point a deferral is better than not getting in at all. They are still interested in you so show your continued interest in them.

I will submit my ACT score and midyr report (3.8) as well as my Resume which I didn't initially send. I'll send an e-mail addressing my continued interest as well.

Parikhs you and I are exactly the same. Both rejected from NYU and deferred from northeastern and waiting on BU. Every forum i go into I see your name, and your in the same situation as me! Good luck!

damn vhs..wsup - did you applying to BU ED II?

no I applied regular to the business school. When do you find out about ED II? I dont find out until april and its killing me already!
