3.1 GPA (Prestigious Prep School) 1410(2080) SAT

Accepted online today

I'm an international student who applied to Tulane University as Early Action.
When will I receive the acceptance/rejection letter? Since I don't have Social Security Number, I cannot check the result online.

3.9GPA 1850 on the SATS
Accepted online today

Yah, they've always been generous with the merit aid (even pre Katrina) but they are so DAMN smart with these "personal no-brainer applications" and then you get hit with all this cash!!!! It makes a kid who wasn't really thinking Tulane (I had it on the short List) and go hmmmmmm. It's funny William & Mary is your other choice...quite the antithesis. I think W&M students were voted in US News (those funny polls) "most likely to be seen in the library on a Friday night" If I don't get into my ED school I'm gonna go visit. Congratulations everyone

24 k/year scholarship....

34 ACT, 4.1 weighted GPA/top 15% or so, nothing special EC's....

Price is still a bit high, so unlikely I will attend.

I just got my letter today, my online acceptance was about 3 weeks ago.

ACT 30, 3.95 UW GPA, class rank 3/529, lots of ECs and some leadership

24 k/ year with invite to Honors.
Tulane is my 3rd choice, but the price still is a bit steep especially because I already have an acceptance with almost a full ride somewhere else.

Woot - just got the note of winning the presidential today (I am in a similar boat as THEJay, I'd venture to guess).

As for breaking myself down into numbers, here you are:
SAT 2180:
Writing - 710
Reading - 720
Math - 750
ACT: 32
GPA:
UW - 3.593 (perhaps a record low for this forum....)
W(4.3) - 3.929

I transferred to a residential public gifted high school my junior year, and my grades managed to shoot up though my workload tripled, so understand the GPA # is somewhat misleading.

Honors/AP classes, 3 freshman, 4 sophomore, 10 junior, 6 (to be 11) senior (all the classes at my school are honors or AP, which is why those #'s are so high).

Extra-curriculars all over the place: 2.5 seasons of swim team, 1 track and field, 1 year Venture crew, 1 year peer tutoring, 1 yr horseback riding, 2 yrs Indian dance (I'm white, if it makes a difference), Biomechanics research project at a state university, 4 years rollerblading, 4 years drawing (+some awards), 4 years clarinet (+some awards)

I'm a girl going into physics, which I suspect may have been a component of this, though who knows.

Honestly, though, I wonder if Tulane is still worth $16,000 out of my pocket, my god that's a load of money. I'm going to call and see tomorrow if I could apply for the Dean's and reject the Presidential if I win a full-ride, however unlikely. Good luck everyone! There's a chance I'll see you next September!

If you get the dean's, which anyone can apply for (so yes try and go for it), you get a full ride and dont have to worry about canceling anything.

how long did it take to everyone to get their letters? Its been over three weeks since the online acceptance =/ and i live one state away and still dont have it.

Re "Full Ride"

The Dean's is full tuition. Wouldn't the student still be responsible for room and board, fees, etc.?

This year, it breaks down as follows:

Tuition
$33,500

Academic Support Fee
$2,200

Health Center Fee
$490

Student Activity Fee
$180

Recreation Center Fee
$240

Room is ~ $5100 - $5900/year, and the freshman board plan is ~$3400 - $4000/year.

Yes, DHS covers tuition... Room and Board are an additional expense that you still have to cover if you get full tuition award.

Thanks hovermom. What about the fees? Does the DHS cover them?

No, the DHS does not cover fees.

3.7 GPA UW, 2110 SAT, Top 5% of class

Accepted, but still waiting for the letter on financial info and such. Been about two weeks since I found out online =(. Originally I had no interest in Tulane - and admittedly it is still not high on my list - but you have to be impressed with their marketing. Very enticing.

I found out online, no letter yet. Nice to be in at a pretty decent school by early December. Doubt I'm going here unless they really, really shower me with cash AND I don't get into UCLA. Nothing against the place, but the only reason I applied was because the application was free and it's a pretty decent school, as I said.

3.35UW/3.5W (major upward trend, though), mid-2100s.

After being deferred, I just got accepted today =]
