i know that some top tier schools allow you to submit the act without subject tests. does anyone have any positive/negative experience with doing this? if it's a very high act score (34+), could this be beneficial, or does the lack of subject tests look bad?

If the school states it accepts the ACT (usually with writing) in lieu of SATs and subject tests then take them at their word. Lack of subject tests does not look bad.
