ACT in lieu of SAT subject tests

Many top schools do not require SAT subject tests for students who submit the ACT. If I go this route and do not Submits SAT sub. tests, would I be at a disadvantage? I got a 33 on the ACT (33 Sci, 34 Eng, 36 Rdg, 30 Math, 10/12 essay) and my SAT sub. tests aren't looking uber hot. Here is a list of schools that allow ACT w/ writing in lieu of SAT and SAT subject tests:

Yale University
Amherst College
Barnard College
Boston College
Boston University
Brandeis University
Brown University
Bryn Mawr College
Connecticut College
Duke University
McGill University
Pomona College
Swarthmore College
Tufts University
University of Pennsylvania
Vassar College
Wesleyan University

I am especially wondering about Swarthmore!

Thanks!

Here is the link a sight outlining SAT Sub. test Reqs. for top schools:

Even though not required, SAT Subject Test scores are still recommended. I think the rule was implemented so not to keep applicants from Western states, where students usually take ONLY the ACT, from applying. It was not meant to be a loophole for students who did not do too well on the SAT.

How "badly" did you do on the SAT IIs? Every score that starts with a 7 is fine for those schools.

I'm not sure. That's an interesting question, though. I've always viewed the subject tests as an advantage. I mean, you typically pick subjects that you enjoy, and would do well in. Besides the (almost always) required math test, you pick the rest.

You seem to do well in English/CR. Did you take the English Lit SAT Subj. Test? I'd imagine you'd do fine on it.

Nah, there not even recommended at those colleges if you take the ACT.

And I haven't taken any yet. Its just that I go to a really small school where like nobody takes subject tests and to be perfectly honest, the Barron's review book I borrowed for US Hist is REALLY freaking me out (despite my A in College US hist) and the Lit test book is looking OK ish.

So... I'm not sending any scores initially, but if I find I do good, I'll send them. Just want a "backup" plan in case I bomb.

I go to Brandeis and I only submitted my ACT.

My college counselor tried to get me to apply to Yale using this loophole. I almost applied to Penn, Duke, Wesleyan, and Brown using it. But then I just took the 2 SAT Subject Tests (590 Japanese, 710 MathIIC).

My guess is that you won't be at a disadvantage if you send the ACT instead of bad Subject Tests. You'll do just fine on the lit most likely, and maybe try a math (even if it's not your strong suit) . And if you want to apply to Yale and any other 3 subject test schools that do this, then take us also.
