I was accepted to UC Santa Barbara
I was rejected from UC San Diego and UCLA

1990 SAT
30 ACT
4.19 Weighted GPA (4.5 Junior Year)
3.75 Unweighted GPA (4.0 Junior Year)
5 AP Classes Senior Year (4.5 first semester)
Decent, but not overwhelmingly impressive, Extracurriculars
Not too much Community Service
Essay was NOT a sob story (I think writing about how you enjoy life was a mistake, should have written about how miserable it was, that seems to be favored).

Iāve been rejected from many places that I thought were going to be easy to get in to, and Davis is really my last shot at a college that Iām genuinely interested in - so Iām worried.

Is UCSB typically harder to get into than Davis? Do I have any chance at all?

id appreciate it if someone could get back to me :)

Depends on your major, really. I would think, on average, UCSB has a greater amount of applicants per year. If that is any indicator of difficulty, then it would be far more difficult to get into UCSB. Personally, Iāve always thought Davis was a better school, but I would say they are equally difficult to gain admittance. You have a decent shot. They will be out soon enough.

I applied as an undeclared applicantā¦which concerns me. But I was undeclared at UCSB tooā¦

For last yearās freshman applicants at UC Davis, 86% of the applicants with a UC GPA of 4.0 and above were admitted.

I found a link that may be helpful for people who are trying to compare their chances. It lists the acceptance rates for in-state students in 2010. Iām assuming theyāre all going to be 3-4% lower this year than last year, but the comparison is probably still valid.

Gives me a bit of hope for Davis, seeing that Santa Barbara was more difficult to gain acceptance to than Davis was one year ago.

Still terrified. Can anyone else weigh in on what they think my odds may be?

i think the odds are definitely in your favor. and even if you somehow get denied, you still got SB!

Good to hear, thanks. Santa Barbara is only about 15 minutes from my house though and Iām afraid its too close to home! Weāll seeā¦haha.
