Accepted Transfer HOD major

I am a recently accepted transfer student declared as a HOD major and I am wondering if there will be a harder transition for me. From thorough research about the HOD major, I see that there is a social stigma to Peabody and HID majors. How prevalent and big is this social stigma.

I also have another question. I have a great group of friends at my current university. I also joined an awesome sorority that is not present at Vanderbilt. Would not joining a sorority also affect my transition?

I am considering transferring because I genuinely find the HOD major and tracks within the major compelling. At my present university, I don't know what major would be right for me. Transferring is a big decision, especially since I am settled at my present university. I am just scared of the social scene transition.

Also,How is the minority presence on campus, especially Asian Americans and are they assimilated well with the student body?

Thank you!

Sometimes your friends will poke fun at you for having a seemingly easy major. That’s all. It’s nothing at all to worry about!

Joining a sorority/fraternity is a way to really quickly gain a base of friends but girls in particular are totally fine not joining.

HOD is an excellent major to get a job when you graduate. Consulting firms, talent organizations, and highly matrixed firms are very interested in the HOD talent from Vanderbilt. Of note, although there may be less tests than a STEM major, there are in depth projects and an absolute ton of papers to write in the HOD major. Research opportunities abound in the major as well.

Note, many students combine HOD with another major or minor–HOD and Econ, HOD and Corporate Strategy, HOD and Cognitive Studies, HOD and Medicine Health and Society. It is very doable to take the HOD knowledge and apply it to a second major or a minor.
