I had a 32 ACT superscore, so I was just barely eligible. However, my GPA is a 4.0 unweighted, which probably helped.

My S has a 32 ACT also…We’ll hope for the best. Confused about the GPA since his school doesn’t do the 4.0 scale. However ,it’s still a high average… Maybe we will hear soon. Thanks

All schools use their own formula to recalculate anyway, so dont worry about it. My D has only had one B in HS and that was in an AP class (teacher was awful; live and learn) and all of her other classes were either honors or required classes. It’s still very early and I’m very surprised that we have heard so soon. MU is a big playa at our house now.

Well DD got the letter this afternoon. She was given $20,000 per year which equates to approxmately a 70% tuition scholarship. Her stats are a 33 ACT and 4.69u/5.26w GPA on a 5.0 scale (equates to 3.75u/4.21w GPA on a 4.0 scale). Numerous AP and honors classes, works at a doctors office, multiple mission trips, two 4 year varsity sports, state scholar, blah blah blah… Its nice, but based upon some of the numbers above I’m wondering where the cutoff is.

Separately, I’m also wondering what the impact is (if any) of having a brother as a current student has on the award determination. DS is a junior at Miami with a 3.90 GPA through 5 semesters. When he applied, the maximum automatic scholarship was $9,000/year for an OOS student. As they know what we are paying for her brother, do they think they can shave some off the offer to DD since they assume she will follow her brother and its still far more than he received?

Who knows what their rationale is? For my D I wonder if they were aware that as a governors scholar, my D could attend any in-state public school for free. in fact, she could actually get paid to go with stipends added on. If admissions knew that and knew that they have to compete they would have to offer us a full tuition.

As far as your D goes, yes, they know your S goes there so chances are high that she will too even without all the money. You can certainly evaluate other scholarship offers and then show them to MU to see if they will pony up some more!

We still didn’t get any feedback for any scholarship. I am nervous with another thread that said someone received $14,000 for 32 ACT. This formula seems to be skewed a bit. I wonder if their office of Financial Aid will review how they come up with an exact number. For those that received scholarship already ,is it on your school account yet? Just wondering…

I just checked my D’s portal and there was nothing on there about the scholarship. Our letter was dated December 21st but we just got it yesterday. Hard to wait over the holidays…

Got accepted with $36,000 scholarship over four years. 4.3 weighted, 2150 SAT

Madeline yes that was me I received the 14,000 for a 32 ACT and a 3.74 unweighted GPA. The formula is a bit skewed so I guess all you can do is wait and see. Good luck! And by the way I haven’t checked my account, I will have to check when I get off work.

My D was also top 10% of her class. Maybe because she met all three criteria?

Maybe we will hear this week. Thank you and I’ll keep you posted. Kind of nervous to see. My S would need more than $14,000/yr to attend since we are oos. Thank you

I have seen on this post several people mentioning “Super Scoring” for their ACT scores. I did not think Miami accepted Super Scoring? Have they changed this?

Yes looks like I am going to have to look elsewhere, I need more than 14,000 a year as well because I am also OOS. I will probably send an email to them asking them to explain how they awarded the money they did, but that will probably end up going nowhere.

I have a D who is at a private college. There are times they will work with you, however, I am not sure of a public college. That may be different. Did you get more than$14,000 from another public college? If so, then you may be able to say something to them in writing. As I said, we have not heard yet. If my S does not get more, I may write to see how them get to their final scholarship number. It’s worth a try. I’ll keep posted when my S hears from them. Still hoping for something good.It would be awesome for him to go here.

Oops, sorry for a typo in a post of mine. I was thinking about my SAT. I’ve only taken the ACT once and got a 32 on it. I apologize for any confusion.

Just got the letter today. Miami gave me a full tuition (30,000 per year) scholarship for OOS! They also stated that that was the minimum I would receive in my final aid package (we haven’t filled FAFSA, department awards, etc haven’t been finalized yet) so some people may get more than originally planned :)

Accepted w/$6000 a year scholarship

D applied at the last minute. Received acceptance in Mid-December. Right before Christmas (postmarked Dec 21) she received two different envelopes. One inviting her to the “inagural class” of University Academic Scholars, and one giving her $124,800 over 4 years. Guess we will be planning a trip to Ohio.

Literally, I just found out I got in. The second it was posted online. Wooo!!!

Congrats!!!
