Accepted!

DD just received a very nice large envelope in the mail with her acceptance letter. No financial aid/scholarship information was included in the envelope.

Congrats MSM Dad!! Are you in-state or out of state? Just wondering for out of state mail purposes :)

We are out of state.

S also received his accepted packet today also. No scholarship/financial aide info either. Anyone have any idea when that arrives?
We are out of state but in the midwest.

Same here. Hunted on the website and saw that their award letters are generally sent mid-Feb. Felt bad because we basically had told dd she could forget it at 43k/yr with no scholarship. So now we wait…

My S was accepted yesterday as well! Very nice envelope. We are very much out of state: New York

No one at my school has gotten their letters yet here lol… I hope this isn’t a foreshadow to rejection letters coming in later.

D received acceptance letter today w invite to MU vs ND game. We are OOS… very nice letter.

Big envelope here for S!

Hey Mother4gr8tkids! We are very much out of state too…New Jersey! My D was accepted yesterday and Marquette seems to be rising in her ranks…scholarship money will help the decision too! Is your son the only one from your school/area thinking about going? D was feeling a bit like an outlier applying to Marquette but now she feels pretty cool for having been accepted :)

Daughter accepted! nice envelope from MU. loved the whole on line tracking of the envelopes and the snail mail acceptance. We are in NJ

Hey SchoolParent2016! I think my son may have been the only one from his LI HS who applied. According to Naviance, no one from his high school has applied there for the last 3 years. Most apply to the Georgetowns, BCs, Fairfields, Loyolas, etc. He applied to Marquette b/c we are very interested in a Jesuit institution, it has a great reputation and it was an “out of the box” school. He has been accepted EA to some of the East Coast Jesuit schools as well but I think we are going to plan a trip to check Marquette out~! Very excited.

Congrats to all as Frazzlemom stated previously fin. aid/awards will most likely be sent during Feb. You should all read all the info in the packages and should be getting some mailings with other details in the following couple of months.

S is still waiting, yet someone else at his HS got the big envelope. Hmm, wondering if this means bad news for S. Anyone receive a sad, small envelope?

Wow! We have the same, EXACT story! “Out of the Box” theory, we really want a Jesuit education, EA acceptances to the same east coast Jesuit schools (as all her friends and classmates) but Marquette has quickly risen to the top of her list because of its uniqueness and reputation. It’s so great to see her proud of her accomplishments when she tells people that she was accepted and she receives such positive accolades.

We just booked a flight to go out and visit in February - if she’s going to a school in Wisconsin, better to see it at its weather worst ;-)

Also, my husband checked out their basketball schedule and Marquette will be playing St. John’s at MSG in March. We’re going to go for her to get a good idea (while local) of school spirit! Not a bad idea for you guys, too!

Update: Son received the nice big envelope today! Very exciting.

Anyone planning to go for the March 1 BB game? S would love to go, but his HS hockey season will no doubt conflict.

Update - Step-D received her envelope today! Hooray!!

If you have not been on campus, I highly encourage a visit! Step-D and I just loved our ‘college tour’ stop at Marquette. We both rated it among the best of our 7 day journey! Wonderful hospitality and a top-notch presentation! I sincerely hope this is where she ends up!

laurendog, Congratulations to you and your Step-D. Might you be able to post a visit report regarding your “tour” of the Marquette campus? This would be very helpful to those of us who have not visited or cannot visit because of distance. I noted that the last visit report on CC for Marquette is from 2011. Thank you in advance.

MSMDAD, possibly I can be of some help! We are also OOS (east coast) with an accepted HS Senior. We visited there last summer and will second Laurendog’s opinion of the admissions presentation and tour. I am also an alum who graduated more years ago than I’d care to admit! I’d be happy to try to answer any questions of things you may be curious about.

Thank you, justlookingnow. First question: The last review that was posted in 2011 noted that the neighborhood around the campus did not seem safe. Was this your perception when you visited?
