Accepted!

@Joezzzzz To reserve a spot if you are accepted and decide to enroll.

Is housing not guaranteed?

It’s a place holder- type housing deposit. The earlier you make the deposit, the higher chance you have of your top choice in housing. As I understand it, you don’t need to be accepted to do the housing deposit, which I think was $50, but it is non-refundable. You fill out a form online ranking your housing preferences and make the deposit. It was discussed in November on one of the threads on the UMN board.

Here’s the official statement:

Students can submit the housing application online prior to receiving their admission decision. Applying for housing early will increase the chances of students receiving their preferred residence hall. Housing assignments are made in the order in which the housing application (NOT the application for admission) is received.

The University of Minnesota guarantees housing to all admitted first-year freshmen who are willing to accept assignment to any space designated, and who:

Submit the housing application-contract and $50 non-refundable housing application fee to Housing & Residential Life no later than May 1, 2018; and
Confirm their enrollment with the Office of Admissions no later than May 1, 2018.
Admitted freshmen who apply for housing after May 1 are placed in housing on a space-available basis.

I really hope that we can get decisions this week, I don’t really wait until next week.

Check tracker few more time - no update. This is becoming routine. Hope it ends soon.

Mine changed to

Your application is being very carefully considered. All of your required application materials have been received by the Office of Admissions and your application is being very carefully considered. Decisions are made based on a holistic review of each individual application, and will be sent to students on a rolling basis. Our decision timeline information is available.

Does this mean I am getting deferred or rejected? Holy molly…

@Joezzzzz I just got the same message… now I’m nervous.

@Joezzzzz MN App Tracker now changed to the following…All of your required application materials have been received by the deadline. Thank you!

@Joezzzzz Mine says the same… ugh :frowning:

Me too!! So nervous…

ggwp

Just got the change to “carefully considered” also. Does it mean deferred?!

My sons now says the same… Must have changed within the last hour. Your application is being very carefully considered. All of your required application materials have been received by the Office of Admissions and your application is being very carefully considered. Decisions are made based on a holistic review of each individual application, and will be sent to students on a rolling basis.

I think that means deferred. Because they’re basically placing you under holistic review and still telling you that you’ll get a rolling decision. If it was an outright denial, I feel like they’d say we can’t offer you admission at this time- or something along those lines.

I hope it doesn’t mean anything. But that how people figure out if they got into Boston university or not. Accepted and deferred students have different messages.

MUst be tonight’s bros

We got the “very carefully” message today too. I’m pretty sure it means deferred.

I got the “very carefully considered” message and checked my MyU account later that night and got admitted! The message doesn’t necessarily mean deferred!

@gbpack4033 Really??? Oh, thank you for saying that! I have a glimmer of hope!
