My daughter received her acceptance to Hendrix in yesterday's mail. Hooray!

Congratulations to you both, ArkansasMom! My DD is so very happy there. If your DD has any questions, let me know and I'll be happy to pass on an e-mail address or whatever. Wonderful news!

Congratulations! Out son's visit went very well and he just loves the place. He is all set to apply but must wait a year (only in 11th grade). The mom who drove S and his buddy (her son) was super impressed with the school and the other kids plus the administrators they met with. Good luck to you!

My D was also accepted to Hendrix. She visited last month & liked it a lot. Everyone was so welcoming! The biggest drawback is ... it's Arkansas ... we live in Michigan. That is not an insurmountable problem, just a consideration. She is interested in a few schools, and I know it will be April before she makes up her mind. However, it's nice to know that she has been accepted to a school she really likes. That makes the wait for April notifications less difficult to handle!

kelsmom - here's something to chew on. As for Hendrix, we are just next door, so nothing drastic, but I have a child in school in Pennsylvania (plus another in a college that is in our town), and for that adventurous kid who really wants to go fay away, the experience of a whole different (and I do mean really really different) place just adds so much to their educational experience. This could also be your chance to add "ya'll" and "i'm fixing to do..." to your vocabulary! Plus we southerners could use a little mixin up with the yankees (i married one, so i'm a fan).

Good luck with your decision. If you'd like some advice on how things can be 1200 miles away from home (in reverse for you), just pm me.

Thanks, mercymom. It's nice to have others around who have been through this! My D does seem to enjoy the different culture in the south. She can't quite handle the REALLY southern schools (the ones where the girls dress up to go to breakfast!), but she likes the friendliness she found at Hendrix & Rhodes. While it is much more "proper" than the midwest, the south has the same type of friendliness we have here. She was very turned off by east coast schools --- she found that, although they don't seem to intend to be, easterners are "cold." She ended up choosing to apply to schools in the midwest (none in our own state, though) and the south.

Hendrix had the friendliest staff and students of all she visited!!

SplashMom & mercymom, thanks! :-)
Kelsmom, congrats to your D!

Congratulations, ArkansasMom! I've heard and read wonderful things about Hendrix. I urged my daughter (a senior in high school) to consider Hendrix, but she insisted on looking north. (We live in Kentucky.) Perhaps she'll regret that when she's trudging through hip-high snow next winter in Minnesota or Wisconsin!

Congratulations! I applied by the December 1st deadline and I'm eagerly awaiting my decision. I'm supposed to hear by Friday, wish me luck!

bluetissues, good luck! I hope you have good news tomorrow!

My daughter got her letter too - congratulations Arkansas mom from another Arkansas mom:)

I just got my acceptance letter!!!

I love the little star confetti and the folder it all comes in.

:) :)

It's so nice to be in somewhere I would love to go!

Congrats, bluetissues! And to cgdphoenix's daughter, too!

I got my acceptance letter about two weeks ago. And I received my scholarship offer about a week later. I was very impressed with that speed and the fact that I had a handwritten note on my admissions letter!

My D also received a handwritten note on the admissions letter & thought it was a nice touch. She applied ON 12/1 (procrastinator!) and received her acceptance on the 15th. She received her scholarship offer yesterday. Congratulations to all who have been accepted!

I got a handwritten note too. It definitely seems like the type of thing Hendrix would do. I applied on the 1st as well and only found out on the 22nd. I haven't heard any word on scholarships, and I'm assuming I won't for a while due to the holiday break.

Hm, I got something related to merit aid in the mail today, but it was just telling me that I was eligable to compete for the Hays Memorial Scholarship (the full ride) and gave me an application. Is that all I'm going to hear for now? Did you guys get specific offers, or just letters about eligability for various awards?

I got specific offers, including an academic scholarship and odessey scholarship as well as a hays scholarship application.

bluetissues, you should hear something soon regarding scholarships. My D received her scholarship letter several days after the Hays application mailing. Like Molly247, my D received an academic scholarship and an Odyssey scholarship. :-)

My daughter received an academic scholarship & an Odyssey award along with a Hays application. However, she also received another Hays application yesterday. So you may have received THAT separate Hays mailing & a letter with scholarships could be on its way. It was exactly one week between receiving an acceptance letter & receiving a scholarship letter --- but your situation could be different, since you acceptance letter came closer to the Christmas holiday. I would guess that if you scored well enough to receive the Hays app, you should be getting some type of academic scholarship offer. That's just a guess, of course, but hopefully a good one!
