Dad II, OOS students are the only group of people to receive a "rejection" letter.

The "rejection" letter for in-state students is called the "options" letter, which is essentially an acceptance letter to the regional campus that the student marked #1 on their application.

^Exactly. In-state students can't (well, not so much "can't" as "aren't") be denied from the Ohio State University system, but they can be denied from the Columbus campus.

I have received nothing regarding scholarships or the honors program yet. I'm thinking the initial round of admissions letters were to start getting in the heads of big numbers kids who are probably considering OSU as only a safety at the moment. By sending decisions before the EA decision date, they are hoping to garner some good will with the applicant, being the first college decision with which many kids will be saying, "I got into college!"

They might be looking at the overall quality of a student, if I recall, the person who had those scores was deferred and did mention that their ECs were not the strongest. Just putting that out on table. Maybe OSU is really putting an emphasis on ECs.

Because I have about 4 leadership positions, have a weighted gpa that is very good, top 20 percent in an extremely competitive high school, took near 10 honors classes, 3 APs, very good recommendations and essays

People like you are the reason I am still holding on hope that OSU accepts me.

I have very strong ECs, wrote really good essays, have a higher GPA then you (Didn't take classes of anywhere near the rigor of your classes though) had excellent recs (Especially my counselor) but my SAT was 150 points lower.

Hmm, i just figured out today where you check your status online; before i thought you just got it on the document page or something. Thus, I don't know exactly when i was accepted. The letter is dated December 5th though. I sent mine in on November 24 and it was confirmed received on the 26th. adding myself to the list:
