As of now I am fairly certain I will fail AP Chem and maybe USHistory. Our class just doesn't emphasize on these subjects and I have a hard time understanding the concepts.

Now when filling out College Applications will it be better to have Cancelled on these tests better than a "1" mark? I am also taking AP Calc and fairly certain I can get a 4 or 5. Can I just fill my score for AP Calc and leave Chem/USH blank on the application? I could care less for the actual college credit. I just don't want it to stick out on college application.

i am in the same situation as you. i really dont want to take my ap chem exam cause i am not going to get higher than a 3 and the top colleges i am applying to wont even accept 3's.

colleges dont really care what you get, unless you get a high score. Even then, I took 10 aps and I didnt even include the scores/send it to my college until i got here to get credits.

^A 1 is completely removed from perfection. Cancelling a 3 or 4 would suggest an obsession with perfection. I highly doubt colleges would look in any way favorably on a 1 score.

depends on what school you go to...& you shouldn't cancel a score because you might end up with a good score...i know someone that got two 2's on their AP exams - more specificially APUSH & AP Physics, & they ended up getting accepted to ucla

nhsharvard how do u know UCLA does not care about AP scores...i actually believe u because i got 3 2's and still got in...but where did u read that or who told u?

Do you honestly think you are going to get a 1? I mean, really. You are on CC. I am sure you can at least scrap up a 2 or even a 3 if you apply some logic to both the tests, especially U.S. History. Although Chemistry is pretty hard. My honors Chemistry class is pretty tough (we don't offer any AP science).

Is that your best shot? It's far from perfect.

I assume you count several placement counselors and admissions directors amongst your acquaintances, and at lest one psychologist who helped you to make this diagnosis of my statement.

A 1 is definitely not a best shot. It means you're not qualified at all. 2 means you're possibly qualified (and at least understood part of the material).

There really is no difference between a "best shot" and getting a 1 and Christmas treeing the test and getting a 1. It's all the same on your grade report. Similarly, barely making a 5 is the same thing as getting a perfect score.

^ True, but having three AP Courses on your transcript and not having scores for any of them is worse than having three mediocre scores. That's what I mean by "best shot."

Well, you could be at my son's school where they plan to take the Calculus AB exam knowing they will get a 1 and do not care about the score. They just want the weight so their GPAs go up.

I am fairly certain I can atleast get a 4 on the Calc test if not a 5. We have been doing full ap packets every night since second semester. (almost 50 now).

Chemistry on the other hand, I have a mid A in the class and that is only because I seem to have good short term memory and the tests/quizzes are over small sections only requiring few concepts and 1 or 2 equations to work with. It is just hard for me to maintain and understand the concepts in chemistry so when I take practice AP questions I usually remember learning the topic but have no idea how to solve the answer. Multiple choice kills me too. We had a Mock Multiple choice test last week and it felt like the test was in german for me. And no, I dont understand german :X

History wouldn't be so bad but we had a very very slacking teacher and never had homework assignments. 95% of the class never even read the textbook. So basically i'm just going in taking the test with my prior common knowledge.

I really could care less if I get college credit for chem and ushistory. I just dont know what SAT II to take other than Math IIC though... My chemistry and history are both too weak to score mediocre and I haven't learned physics yet. I'm guessing my only choice is Math and English Lit?
