I accidentally submitted my application and I’m super worried. If I ask for it back, will it hurt the decision process? I submitted the wrong essay. It doesn’t include any other school’s name. I wrote two essays for the prompt and I copied the wrong one. But yeah, if I ask for it back, will it hurt my chances? Do they have a system where they keep notes of each time the applicant emails or calls??? Dumb questions, but questions nonetheless.
Did you accidentally submit the application or incorrectly submit the wrong essay? I honestly don’t think you can ask for it back, you could ask if you can send in a different essay - I can’t imagine that looks great, others probably have a better idea of that than I do. But ask yourself, is the essay you sent in really terrible or different in significant ways compared to the one you meant to send? How important is this school to you? Is it worth stirring the pot? You could call admissions on Monday without giving your name and ask if there are any options.
@CADREAMIN The essay isn’t terrible. My counselor told me that both were great, but I think I copied the wrong one and I didn’t think it would submit all the way through.
So it just went to one school. Is it THE school? And do you think the other essay says a lot more about you than the one you submitted? If your GC says they are both great, then I think I would let it fly.
I am not sure replacing one great essay with another is worth flagging admissions to the error - not that they don’t understand this happens, it just seems unnecessary. Can you talk to your GC Monday? She may reassure you or give you the best insight if there is anything you should do.
Maybe this was meant to happen and this will be the essay that gets you admitted! Take a breath, relax, there is nothing to do for now, and likely it is all going to turn out fine.
@CADREAMIN Thank you! What you said about it being meant to happen might be true.Or not. Who knows? It’s out of my reach now. Thanks again!
Just be glad you didn’t submit one with another school’s name in it or a bunch of errors! Even if my D is submitting 5 applications in a row, we print each one out the whole thing. Ya it’s a waste of paper and ink, and my daughter rolls her eyes when I do that, but it is so easy to forget to change something or switch something back. Best of luck to you, hope you get in where you want!
@CADREAMIN Thank you!! I wish you and your daughter good luck as well.
