Accounting Major and School Choice

Currently I am a sophomore at UCSB as a pre-economics/accounting major. I am on the borderline of getting in the full major or not.

Im not that into Economics but I enjoy the accounting emphasis. If I were to miss out on the major, would you suggest going to CC and transferring to a school with straight accounting? I could do a Technology Management Program which has 6 business classes. I may do that with a major I don't care about (Communications?), if i dont make econ/accounting.

In a situation like mine, would it be smart to go to CC for a year (Get 3.8+ there) and then transfer to a school with straight accounting. How important is prestige of school in terms of accounting? I would look at schools such as Cal Poly Slo, SDSU, CSULB, and University of Washington (bit of a reach i think).

Im feeling confused with what I want to do and Economics has been pretty tough for me. I like that the accounting is applicable as seems useful, while the theory in econ isn't interesting to me.

I have a 3.2 college GPA (67 units) and in HS i had 3.95W and 3.75W GPA w/ 1960 SAT.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated! thanks.

I think the schools you listed should be fine for accounting recruiting. You would want to get your GPA a bit (3.4 +) for Big 4 recruiting. If you don’t like econ at ucsb you can major in something else and then get a masters of accounting.
