Accounting Transfer

Hi. I'm currently a freshman at a local CC. I was accepted into DGS at UIUC during my senior year in high school, but chose to go to the local CC to save a few bucks while I decide what I wanted to do. A summer plus a few months later, I finally decided that I want to pursue Accounting at UIUC, which I know is near impossible to get into. I have a few questions regarding the transfer, however. Last time I knew it was still possible to transfer to UIUC after your freshman year in college, correct? If that's the case, my ACT and high school information would still be considered. I realize this current semester has just began, but I can't see me getting anything less than an A honestly. So assuming I do well this year at the CC, what are my chances for transferring into UIUC Accounting with
- 29 ACT
- 4.79/5.0 GPA Weighted
- I believe my class rank was less than 15%, probably around 13-14% upon graduation
- I participated in Honors classes throughout my HS career and a few APs senior year
- As I mentioned above with 16 credit hours at my CC, I currently have all A's

Any comments or help would be awesome!

When transfering into second year, ACT, high school grades, and college grades are considered and preference is given to those who would likely have been admitted to the business school in first year. In other words, if you were offered DGS at that time but had actuially applied to business that means your prior rejection by the business school will be considered against you, otherwise it is not a factor.

When transfering into third year, ACT and high school record are not considered but instead college grades are key (along with essays, ECs).

You must have the minimal coursework needed for a transfer, go here and view applicable transfer handbooks: [U</a> of I Admissions: Transfer Handbook](Page Not Found, Illinois Undergraduate Admissions)

Your high school record and ACT are actually pretty good for business and thus if you were not rejected freshman year you have a shot for second year but less so if you were rejected by business for first year.

In any event, even with stellar record in college and completion of necessary courses, you should not get overly confident to be admitted. The acceptance rate of transfer students from other colleges into business is low (less than 30%). In other words, make sure you have other college choices to which you will also seek transfer.
