Act Curve?

ive been reviewing w/ the princeton review for the ACT, and some of the given curves seem ridiculous like missing 3/40 is a 32 for science?
are the past curves posted anywhere?

The ACT is notorious for its harsh curves. I don't know if past curves are posted anywhere. If nobody else can direct you to an online posting, I will see if I can dig up my copy of the curves for the last test and post that.

In the real ACT, there are 3 practice tests and the (science) scores for a 37/40 are 31,33,and 34 respectively so it can probably vary a lot depending on the difficulty and how well others score on it. The scale of the science score seems to vary more than the scales of the other sections. I would guess that 33 is probably a good estimate of your score if you miss 3 on the real test tho.

Usually on the ACT, the first six missed points correspond to one less subscore.

Miss one in english: 35
Miss two in english: 34
etc...

The exception to this usually is critical reading, which has a 1 question leniency in the scale; you can miss one question and still make a 36.

I don't know what it usually is, but here's what it was for my scores in April:
English: -5=32
Math: -3=32
Reading: -0=36
Science: -8=27 (Boooo)

yeah science sucks..im dreading it

Don't dread it. Just work through quickly and efficiently.

One reason the curves are harsh is because ACT has no guessing penalty like the SAT.

I got a 32 on English and 33 on reading, which I am very happy about since I am a math/science guy. I got 1 wrong on the science and got a 35. But I was mad when I got 2 wrong in math and got a 33???? What the hell? I lost 3 scaled points for 2 questions wrong =(

The math curve that particular date was -1 and get a 34

Wow that sucks considering one of my 2 wrong answers was a retarded mistake. Hehe.

I was supposed to use sine, but i used tangent by accident. lol

My two mistakes came from not having a calculator and making idiotic arithmetic mistakes...
