Just got my scores back and I got a 25 on the English section :(
Does anyone have any advice? What prep books/strategies should I use?
I have tried PR's cracking the act but the English part doesn't seem to help me..
All the advice would be helpful!! Thank you!

My best advice is to MEMORIZE all of the grammar rules. Learn them and practice, practice, practice. They will help you on both this test and in general life, because you need grammar. I didn’t do any practice for the ACT english and just went based off knowledge of grammar rules. I got a 34. Now if only I knew what I was doing for the reading and science…

Take an honors/AP/IB English course.

Cracking the ACT helped me more on English than anything else.

Yeah this was my lowest score and i felt the best about this section… :(

Oh no! I am sorry that the English section ruined the test for you. With my daughter, it was the science section. Anyway, on my daughter’s first practice ACT test, she scored a 28 in English. On the test that she took on the 14th, she scored a 34, so she improved her score by 6 points. She took about 7-8 practice tests between the end of February and the April 14th test date and she really went over the questions that she got wrong and why she got them wrong, so that way she could answer a similar question correctly on future tests. She also really went over some basic grammar rules, like when to use a comma vs. a semicolon or when to use who vs. whom. If you google, you will find some really good grammar websites that will really help you. This helped her tremendously and she feels pretty confident in English now. Just practice, practice, practice. This section was the one section where my daughter was able to bring her score up quite a bit by practicing. I think if you put the time in, you will see meaningful results. Good luck!

thank you all for the help!!
