ACT or PSAT?

I can't really give my cousin any advice here so I'm asking for your help! My cousin is going into his junior of h.s. and isn't sure what to study for: the PSAT or the ACT. I've been scoring in the 220 range on my psat but trying to teach him hasn't really gone to plan. He likes the act more than the psat, but with all the scholarships and prestige than comes with a high psat score, he isn't sure what to take. Will he even have enough time to study for the psat at this point? Personally I've never taken an act practice test so I don't know how the two compare, so if he studies for the act will his psat score naturally raise or vice versa. Do colleges actually care about your psat score is it all on the actual sat/act. Thanks!

You’re sort of comparing apples with orange seeds. A high score on the PSAT can qualify you for the National Merit Scholarship, but there are several qualification steps and I’ll let you read on that. Also I don’t think PSAT really factors much into college admissions.

As for the SAT/ACT, it depends. It’s best to take one of each and see which one is easier for him and which one he can improve most…
