ACT or SAT

Which should i focus on more i think i can get a better score with ACT but do colleges like SAT more?

I'm going to go ahead and say colleges are impartial to either, unless they only accept the SAT, like Harvey Mudd. More and more students are taking the ACT, and more and more colleges are starting to accept it and treat it like the SAT.

Our school encourages all students to take both exams & then decide based on how they do whether to retake either. Partly, it depends on the colleges you're applying to. The official word is that most colleges accept both, but the HS CC (who was an adcom at Carlton & later UCDavis) says that honestly many schools do prefer the SAT & SATII subject exams. An advantage of ACT is score choice, where it only reports the score you release & doesn't show all the scores you've ever earned on the exam (SAT shows all past scores of SATI & SATII with the score you're trying to have reported).

Most schools take both and if they do, they don't favor one over the other. So practice for both and take the one that you do better on. ACT is cool because it has score choice. SAT sucks partly because it doesn't (but for a number of other reasons as well!). ACT tests more of what you learn in school.
