Hey, guys. I just took a practice test on Princeton Review and scored a 28. Here’s the breakdown:
- Mind you I had to rush through the science and math portions.
29 Reading
28 English
26 Math
27 Science
I am only ending my sophomore year, and I took that with absolutely no prep. Is it possible to get to a 33 by the middle of my junior year? I’ll probably take another one tomorrow when I’m not tired.
Yes! I recommend the big yellow ACT prep book Princeton Review sells. Buy it on Amazon for about $12. You’re at a slight disadvantage since all of your scores are in the same general range, so you’ll have to spend a lot of time on each section as opposed to just zeroing in on one or two. Good luck!
Did you miss more “easy” and “medium” difficulty questions than “hard” ones? Was time an issue? It is relatively easier to improve your scores if the mistakes have to do with familiarity, carelessness and time management. There is also likely improvement with another year of general knowledge. You have through fall of senior year to attain your best score.
What you should prep for over this summer though is the SAT because you will be taking the PSAT in the fall of your junior year. See how you score on that. If you do really well, then you may want to focus on the SAT. If you do not do well on that, then consider the ACT. Some people take to one over the other. If you are shooting for a 33 ACT, the concordance on that for the SAT is about 1500.
@BKSquared I think, honestly, I’m going to do the SAT. I scored a 1360, and I feel like I will be able to do better on that. Thanks, guys!
