ACT question

For some top tier schools (e.g. Yale and Stanford), they say that they require an ACT test with writing. Am I allowed to send in an ACT test with writing and then an ACT that has a higher score but no writing score?

For the most part, they won’t accept the test without writing.

Check the schools websites to see if they super-score. Most don’t for ACT. They also generally wouldn’t even accept it without writing.

The previous responses are incorrect. For the 7 universities where my son applied, all the admissions offices responded with “send both your ACT with writing scores AND your ACT without writing score” when I inquired. By the way, Stanford requires that you send all ACT and/or SAT scores anyway, so no question there-send both.

@Parent1337- Hence the “Most” and “Generally”

My question for everyone is should I take the ACT again with writing? I have gotten 10 and 11’s the past two times with writing. I know I can try to get up to a 12 but I would rather focus on improving my composite.

Yes take it with writing. Writing doesn’t hurt composite and you don’t have to prep for it. A lot of schools don’t even accept it without writing.

Just send them both in. They can’t “ignore” your other test score.
