ACT Registration

So during registration this morning, I noticed that there are no test centers administering the ACT test on September 10th within a 45 mile radius of where I live. I got to thinking about alternatives, but which path should I take in signing up for the ACT?

a) Sign up for the September 10th ACT despite being a long way (45 minutes) from the nearest testing facility. This would help because I could study during the summer and not have to worry about homework and extracurricular events.

or

b) Sign up for the October 22nd ACT, which will be administered very close to where I live. However, my coursework at that time will probably pick up and I'll have a hard time studying for the ACT while balancing school and life.

I suppose it wouldn't matter what path I take since my choice schools will receive my scores along with my application, but which date would be the best for me?

Thanks for the help! :)

I would recommend taking the September ACT. You would have plenty of time to study and if you do poorly you always have the option of retaking in October. Although 45 minutes is a long way for an 8 am test, you can always have someone drive you there while you sleep for a bit.

It sounds like this is your first ACT. Are you going to be a senior? If so, then the September date is more favorable because in addition to having scores earlier to put on your apps, you can always do a retake if they are not up to par.
