Like the SAT, is it beneficial to add recipients (colleges) before the ACT test day so that the scores are sent earlier? Or does it not matter if I add colleges after I take the ACT test?

Thanks.

Can someone help me out, please?

The big advantage to the ACT test is that you can choose what scores you want to send out. Therefore, many students will take it 2 or 3 times and wait for the scores to come back (around 3 weeks). There is an extra charge for sending out scores after the test is over.

Thanks, toledo. But will the colleges receive my ACT score faster if I add them before the test is over? (I also don't want to pay an extra charge).

It really just depends on when ACT has a scheduled electronic transfer for any particular college once scores come out. If you have listed a college for sending on your test app ot added it before taking the test, the score will be sent to that college the first scheduled transfer date that occurs after test scores are announced. That may be a week after test scores are released, two weeks or possibly even longer depending on college. If you separately order a sending to a college immediately after your score comes out it may or may not make that first sending. Generally, it is not an issue of concern -- for example colleges that have early action and early decision and Nov app dates for those, all accept October test scores by regular sending (whether you order before test date or order immediately after scores come out) even though the score arrives after the app deadline.

I don't see how it's beneficial on either the ACT or the SAT to send the score earlier...

Oh, thanks. Well, I just thought adding the recipients before I take the test will be beneficial in time-wise.
