ACT Science score low, rest are great

So I just got my ACT scores back:

32 composite
33 English
35 math
33 reading
26 science

I know I could have done much better for science if I had practiced even a little, because I had no idea how quick it was and ended up taking too much time on earlier questions. I ended up having to guess on the last few and rush through others.

Here’s the problem: I am applying to Tufts University as an engineering major, but my science score is terrible. Should I retake the act just to get that up? Or would sat subject tests be more worthwhile? My sat scores are very solid (2180 old/1540 new) but the act seems pretty easy, so I’d like to have great scores on both and not have to deal with the subject tests. Idk, I need opinions. Please help!

Tufts requires SAT and two subject tests or, alternatively to both of those, the ACT. Without the subject tests your SAT will be ignored. Your ACT is probably OK as is although it could be improved since many do improve on science on a retake (apparently getting used to the the type of questions in that particular section leads to improvement). However, your 1540 new SAT would be ideal with two high subject tests. So your options are to sit with what you have in the ACT or take more tests, two subject tests or a retake of the ACT, or both, and possibly improve your position. A question to ask yourself is: what if you are rejected with your exisitng ACT, will you then second quess yourself for a long time for having failed to take more tests? Also be aware that Tufts no longer requires or recommends the writing section of either the new SAT or ACT.
