Hi guys!
I just got my act scores back, which i’m pretty happy with for my first test of junior year!
C-31
E-33
M-24
R-34
S-32
and a writing score of 9.
I was hoping for at least a 28 so thank god I did better than I thought! However, my math was obviously less than spectacular, i’m hoping it was just a fluke but it doesn’t look as good next to my other scores. I’m definitely going to retake my senior year, but I’m wondering if this score would be satisfactory for UF admissions, concidering I already have a 4.0 unweighted gpa and a 4.78 weighted. Could you guys advise me on my best plan of action? Thank you!
I congratulate you on preparing, planning, and looking ahead. Keep reading the threads and you’ll realize that UF really is holistic - with good stats. No perfect magic bullet.
However, math being a bit higher certainly would help. Suggestion: plug your personal score numbers into the Khan Academy site. When it configures your strength and weaknesses it will prepare practices for you. Spend maybe 20 minutes tops every day (roughly), then retake. Good Luck!
Supposedly math is an easier score to raise than some of the others, if you’re willing to work at it. Also, you need to memorize some formulas for the ACT. Your scores are great otherwise, but I do think it would help to get that math a bit higher. Also start planning now for your fabulous essay. Good luck!
You have to recalculate your GPA. Is the 4.78 based on Honors courses being weighed out of 4.5 and AP/IB out of 5? If so, you’re good.
