I’ve posted one a while back but now that the 3rd 9 weeks is basically over my Junior year grades are set in place since we won’t really be doing anything next 9 weeks.
Anyways,
SAT: 1340. Might be higher since I’m still awaiting scores from the March SAT. Could possibly be 1400.
ACT: No, but I got a 30 on a practice one, so I guess if I took it I would get it…maybe.
GPA: Unweighted, either a 3.65 or 3.675
Recalculated GPA (The way UF does it): Either a 4.45 or 4.475
Course Rigor: 19 AP/IB Classes by the time I graduate, and 9 Honors.
Senior Course Load: 7 IB classes. IB Contemporary History HL (Could possibly be Biology HL), IB Physics SL, IB Math HL (Calc BC), IB Spanish 5 SL, IB Psychology 2, IB English HL. IB TOK, but I don’t know if that counts or not.
Class Rank - Top 15%
Extracurricular Activities - Student Government, Young Democrats, Leadership role in small Biology club, GSA. Helped found a program that taught science for kids. Other small volunteering clubs like Animal Rights Club, etc.
Sports - I will have a Black Belt by the time I apply. I tried swimming for several months before quitting.
Volunteering - Only 200 by the time I apply. Volunteered at the library, teen court, animal shelters, etc. Heard from my Senior class that it’s not that important since basically all of them got in with like 100 hours.
Essay - Haven’t written, but I think I have a good topic to write about.
Awards: I’m not really distinguishable. I have some AP Scholar award but I think that’s it. Also part of National Honor Society, but I think that’s counted as a club.
Hooks: Under 30,000 Income? Idk
Good shot at admission. Your SAT is on the higher end of their middle 50%.
Lots of AP courses. Very good. Your unweighted GPA is average, but the weighted GPA is pretty high.
If you want, you should really take the ACT. A 30 is far more impressive than a 1340.
I’m a junior and I SHOULD take the ACT too but I’m pretty tired with all this testing.
Looks good enough to me
@AimingTop50 Well I heard they only care about the weighted GPA. It makes sense too since the GPA related stuff they publish is all in weighted form.
I’m definitely going to take the ACT if my SAT scores aren’t good enough. I’m only waiting because if I do manage to get a 1400 on the SAT then the 30 seems rather pointless since they’re basically the same, right?
Also forgot to mention that my intended major is Accounting and that I’m in state.
I’m in state too
What a great opportunity, huh?
Yeah the sat to act conversion chart I saw says a 30 would be equal to a 1410.
These are not 100% accurate by any means as they compare percentiles.
Say a 30 is 90th percentile for ppl that take the act… and a 1410 90th percentile for SAT takers
then those charts would say they are equivalent
when in fact the test takers for ACT and SAT are different.
They care about the weighted GPA more than unweighted. It’s safe to say every school does. You will have taken a ton of AP/IB stuff so it seems your weighted is quite inflated as not many students have the opportunity to take that many.
I go to a private school and will only have 12 APs by the time I graduate, which I think is quite alot.
That’s the point I was trying to make… But yeah weighted > unweighted by alot. 19 high level courses and getting As and Bs in them would surely be impressive to the eyes of Admissions.
