HELP! I’m panicked. I sent my ACT scores six days ago, and I have four applications (Purdue, UMass Amherst, UVermont, and Oregon State) due November 1st (which is in five days). I don’t know how to check to see if my scores were received by the colleges unless I call them, but none of their offices are open until Monday (and today is Friday). Even if I do call them, what if they haven’t received the scores?! What can I do? Also, I mailed my transcripts to all of the colleges last weekend and I don’t know if they have received those either?? I’m actually freaking out right now.
Also, UVermont wants my first quarter grades but I don’t know how to send these to them as there is no official report for this? And even if I mailed in the report that I can’t get, it wouldn’t arrive at their Office of Admissions in time? What should I do?
I believe that the requests come with a time stamp, and so long as that timestamp shows you’ve requested the report in good time you should be OK. And many school systems’ first quarters aren’t finished late (my kid’s isn’t). Talk to your guidance counselor about your school’s specific method of requesting first quarter grade reports.
And relax. Colleges know that those parts of your application are out of your hands once you’ve done this. You’ve shown due diligence, that’s all they really need to know.
If you submitted through the Common App there are green checkmarks when colleges receive the scores, however some colleges are better at updating these checkmarks than others.
Most of the larger colleges sweep test scores into their admission systems. That might take place one or several time per week for the larger schools. I would not be concerned about it.
The average delivery time for first class mail is 2-3 days. A week is more than sufficient. More than likely your transcripts have not yet been entered into the adcom’s system if they were delivered on paper.
Do not panic. Have your HS tell Vermont they only do semester grades. Colleges know it takes time for all materials to reach them. You met deadlines. Enjoy your weekend.
Thank you so much!
