ACT Speed

As we all know, speed is a major factor for the Reading and Science sections. Lets discuss some strategies to working fast (or improving speed before December) because afterall..the reading and science questions are really a joke. But the section itself isn't if you can't get to all the questions in time. I did a science section last night and got all the ones I did correct, but I skipped one section (fighting scientists) because I was stuck for time. I guessed on all of those questions and got 2 of them correct lol. If I can improve my speed I think I'll be able to pull off a solid score unlike the SAT where my scores were random each time.

On science, I don't read any of the background information or attempt to analyze the graph stuff. I go straight to th question and only look at the things that the question addresses.

For reading, I only read the first and last sentences of every paragraph to get the gist of the passage, then do questions and only read back through parts of the passage when I'm unsure of my answer.

bobisbob, what were your scores?

I got 29 on science the first time by reading all the way through the questions. When I stopped reading and just used the method I described above, I got a 35. As for reading, I've ranged between a 34 and 36 on my 3 sittings.
