Act

I have a few quick questions… I heard that for the ACT you MUST take the optional writing test in order for the scores to be accepted? Is this true? Also, what are some of the scores on the SAT/ACT people got accepted to the Air force Academy with??

The class of 2010 was originally told that they would be required to take the optional writing portion of the ACT. However, USAFA later reversed its decision for the class of 2010 and allowed ACTs without the optional writing section.

I'd imagine this is going to be different for the class of 2011 though....

ACT's 11/05: (30)English, (29)Math, 30(Reading, (33)Science,
(31)Composite, (8)Essay

For the information for class 2011 it looks like the writing is as well optional.

how did you know that because I read on the site that is was going to be required to take the writing test... I read it about 30 minutes ago so I was wondering if it might be old or unrevised?

They sent a letter, but that was to the c/of 2010 applicants....if the website says take it...i'd take it...its not like its that hard and you'll need it for other schools anyways

I never got a letter regarding that but it may be because i turned in tests with the writing...

The instructions to candidates for class of 2011 says non writings will still be accepted.

hmmm, I think someone else mentioned it but just take it and be safe...I know tacking on an extra half-an-hour may not seem appealing after taking the test, but its easier to just get it done...I initially took the ACT w/o writing, then was told I needed the writing, went back and took it with the writing, then was told I don;t need the writing...seeing as how they may not know what they want, just take it to be sure.

Same experiance as West.

Take it to be safe...though the writing section is pretty useless.

Take the writing test. The prompts are easy and many colleges want it. A word of advice, take the test multiple times to see if your score goes up. (mine did by 2pts.) Also, take the SAT too.
