I am taking the ACT in April. Should I also take the SAT? I do better on the act but I will schools be turned off that i didn't take the SAT? I am looking at schools in the Midwest and some in California.

Midwest = ACT

Dunno about Cali

uc schools require sat II scores

Im looking at University of San Diego and Santa Clara

You should check those schools' websites to see if they require any SAT II's.
If you don't score significantly lower on the SAT than on the ACT (and there are conversion charts, somewhere..) then I think it would be better to try the SAT and perhaps submit both scores. It may give you an advantage over other candidates who only submitted only one score. I'm guessing admissions officers like more information about students they're considering.
If your schools do require an SAT II, give more thought to your decision because all SAT and SAT II scores show up on the score report.
If they don't, take it and see how you do. If you don't do well on it, you won't have to submit your scores.

I live in the Midwest, and I applied to three schools, all in the Midwest. Generally, schools in the Midwest take both the SAT and the ACT, so send them your best scores.
