I did best on the ACT so that is what I'm submitting, but some schools recommend or say that it is optional to send SAT II's. If my SAT IIs are very good, but my SAT Is are bad, should I not send my SATs at risk of them seeing my poor SAT I scores, or will they only take into consideration my SAT IIs? That was a mouthful. In short, can them seeing my reg SAT scores hurt me if I'm using the ACT anyways? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!!!

I have the exact same problem....please answer?!
I am also from the east coast (SATs reign supreme here)...I guess I'm scared of having an application with only one score, while it is good, when another application next to mine can have an SAT AND SATIIs...etc. My SATs aren't HORRIBLE, but definitely at the very bottom of the range of the very competitive schools to which I want to apply.

I don't know what colleges do when faced with the good ACT & SAT IIs, not-so-good SAT I scenario.

I do think there is no reason to worry about submitting just the ACT if the school says doing so is allowed. (Places where SAT IIs are "recommended" are more problematic I would speculate.) The ACT isn't just one score; it is 9, including the writing. If a school doesn't think the ACT is enough, it can require the SAT IIs.

I also live in SAT country and my daughter did much better on the ACT during practice and just liked the test better. She chose not to even take the SAT I (and didn't send in her SAT II scores because they weren't that great -- long story). You can imagine the local folks telling us how "risky" this was! What, riskier than submitting test scores that are not as good? Seems to me one's chances would be improved by submitting the better scores and the risky course would be to send in the weaker ones just because that is the more common testing.

She was admitted to three selective schools, including two on the east coast.
