Hey guys i recentley took my SAT in March and got an 1800, but the month before that I took my ACT and scored a 34. I was wondering if colleges would see my ACT score and be like "WOW" but then see my SAT score and have bad thoughts about me. My question is should i take the SAT again? or should i focus more on SATII's for the months of may and june?

Most schools accept the ACT instead of both the SAT I and SAT II's. Check the school websites; you may not have to submit any SAT scores at all.

you might consider having your SAT hand scored, as a start.

Sorry I forgot to mention I'm applying to all UC's so I have to take SAT II's

Chedva is right, you don't have to submit your SAT scores unless they're required. Also, colleges understand that people are human, and that people have bad test days. Take the SAT again but make sure you prep (I used the CollegeBoard "THe Official SAT Study Guide" Big Blue Book for practice tests). No matter how you do though, colleges will still love the 34 on the ACT.

naderboy what is UC??

UC's are all schools in the California State school system. (Univ. of Cal.-Berkley, UC-Irvine, UCLA)

Totally don't worry about your SAT score. They'll see it when you submit your SAT II scores, but they'll only consider your highest score, the ACT. Nice job.

ok im pretty much an expert when it comes to college stuff. thats an incredible act score, but you need to take two sat II's. when you send the sat II score, yur sat will also follow, however they will not look at your sat or base your admission at all on your sat, only ACT. so don't worry, 34 is way high enough. however, UC schools do prefer SAT over ACT, and eastern schools prefer ACT over SAT, but its pretty even now. and also don't be afraid to take SAT more than once. ever since the format of SAT has changed, adding writing section, schools have expected students to take the SAT more than once, 3 is average now.

"ok im pretty much an expert when it comes to college stuff."

I'm sorry, but that cracked me up. Care to elaborate on your qualifications? It is hard to see someone as an expert who spells "your" as "yur" and doesn't capitalize. But do tell!

He makes one grammatical error and you question his qualifications? That's awfully unfair and judgemental, 98jhfg.

Well, for another thing, eastern school do NOT prefer ACT over SAT. Eastern schools have long used the SAT. ACT has traditionally been used in the midwest and western US.

And currently, the schools don't have a preference for either test. The perceived preferences are a historical anomaly.

Thanks to all for the help, it was very useful.
Here is my "What are my Chances?" thread if anyone cares to help more.

Sorry I didn't elaborate on my EC's I was lazy and wanted to know based on my stats how I would do.
Oh and I know how to calculate my UC GPA now thanks.

ok I dont want to freak you out or anything but i got similar scores (35 ACT and 1800 or 1900 something on SATs, 720 and 680 on SATII) and the only schools I got into were my safety schools, TCU and Ohio State. Waitlisted at Pepperdine w/ lots of extra ECs - so I don't know if the schools I applied to didn't pay a whole lot of attention to my ACT or what.....just to warn you...
