"Acted on" status??!

ahhhh! I have “acted on” too! Does anyone know what this means? I agree with the Spring Enrollment theory, though judging by stats, there are plenty of strong applicants that have yet to hear back at all :/

■■■■, so many status changes in so little time!

3/29 Acted upon?
x_x I’m going to be stalking my mailbox today and tomorrow

nyorca i like your thinkingggg hahah okay heres my entire pathetic analysis:

:)

anyone remember how in all the threads and info from LAST year, rejections were sent out AFTER apr 1 like the first week of april?? (i know this year they keep saying we will hear BY apr 1… but they said that last year didnt they? haha they just dont want more anxious calls) its only march 29 and ANYTHING can happen  there is NO indication that these are definitely rejections… other than our paranoia from having to wait SOOO LONG hahaha ohh man

also, i saw in other posts around the USC forum that *ACCEPTANCES were being sent out EVERY day of last week… if the status changes from this weekend were only delayed responses to the admissions office actions on friday (for example)… then they probably are the last batch of acceptances… i heard nothing of rejections being sent last week.

basically… i think that since apr 1 IS so close, admissions at USC is probably stressin out a little bit trying to get everything finished. theyre definitely going to be MORE concerned with making the decisions than updating the info online. if it IS for internal use, then in the FINAL RUN (of making decisions) they would need to know the grand total of who they have accepted right? so they can see how many slots they have left for the remainder of apps? maybe thats why they updated the system this weekend and so many people’s status changed… it HAS to be good news… RIGHT? hahahah

^i think waiting for my USC decision has pushed me to temporary insanity. sorry guys

caliboundsb, I agree with you. USC has received a RECORD number of applicants this year, and this year’s acceptance pattern doesn’t seem to exactly follow the preceding years. At this point, it could mean anything, we will have to wait and see what’s in store when mail starts shooting out. Also, I’ve noticed that not very many CLAS and Marshall applicants have heard back yet, it could be these departments are taking longer than the rest to make their final decisions? I wish everyone the best of luck as I’M SURE we will all be successful and happy wherever we end up :)! Just think about it, if you’re THIS committed to checking the cc USC forum everday, imagine if you applied all that time when you’ve found a major and program you’re dedicated to and love ! Hahaha

^ ttliyusus2: YES! If that dedication is applied to your studies you will ALL be Rhodes Scholars!

What is all this talk about spring enrollment? Did people apply for that or are people being rejected from fall and offered spring?

its what USC uses instead of a waitlist, essentially. you’re correct, some people who didnt make the cut for the fall were offered spring - thats what people are talking about

I would gladly take EITHER.

Just looked back… threads from 2008 show that USC changed many statuses to “acted on” on 3/29 (today) and they were almost all rejections. This doesnt explain those who have already been accepted and whose statuses have changed. I still am maintaining hope, and I hope you guys do to. Its not over until you get the letter!

My pessimism has grown by 65%.

in 2009…most were not rejections with the “acted on” …some were acceptances and some were spring admits. I suspect that will be the case this year too.

haha in most of those threads from 2008 theyre stressing out about the EXACT SAME things as us! most of it is speculation i think… but i havent read it thoroughly. i saw a bunch of people who got accepted in those too. also guys 2008 WAS 2 years ago… things are wayy different this year. dont get bummed out yet!!

I have the “acted on” too and yesterday it was reviewed…i really hope its not a rejection lol USC is my #1 choice. im anxious to find out

At this point, I don’t know what to think. But over the weekend, we started looking towards him going to ASU, where he has a great scholarship. While it would be exciting if he got into USC, I don’t even know if we can swing it. And a little part of me (well, OK, maybe a big part  ) is ecstatic that he would be 20 minutes away from home instead of 5 hours. So whatever happens today/tomorrow/this week, I think we will be ready for it.

He is planning on going to grad school, so maybe USC or another top school will be in his future still. :)

Good luck to everyone this week!

After reading this thread, I checked my S’s status. He was accepted to Marshall about 2 weeks ago. His status has also just changed to “acted on”. I think the statuses just show where the application is in the admissions process and all applications will eventually go through all the steps regardless of the final outcome. So don’t worry about your status and good luck to all of you!

Oh mannn, I checked my mailbox again and it turns out I left a little tiny envelope marked USC in it
Rejected :frowning:
Wow, now I’m super sad.
Good luck to the rest of you though

Does everyone have the ‘events’ tab?? Or has this always been there? I don’t remember but I now have an events tab that let’s me rsvp for usc events, but there’s nothing about admitted students weekend. Do you guys all have this? It let’s me rsvp to some tours

Yes, I’ve always had that.

After reading all these rejections, I’m starting to get a really bad feeling.
Blah.
I still haven’t gotten anything from NYU yet either.
I don’t feel to well. At all.
Rather like crying.
=/

oh well then never mind, chelsea said she just got that and i hadn’t noticed it before so i thought it might be good choice. guess not /:
