Acting Studios and Musical Theatre

My daughter is excited to be entering the Atlantic Studio this coming fall. She is interested in Musical Theatre as well. I realize that she could apply to transfer to New Studio for her Junior year.

Questions -

What type of singing / vocal opportunities are there in Atlantic? I’ve heard that some exist in Adler.

If she wanted to take voice lessons through the school, how does she do that? What type of charge is there?

Lastly, are there musical productions that she could audition for that are open to students of all the studios (not just for the New Studio students)?

Thanks all for your advice!

you can take voice lessons through steinhardt. If you take it for 2 credits (1/2 an hour a week) there should be no fee (though you may wish to pay for an accompanist)

There is always at least one mainstage (stageworks) musical each year - open to all studios. This year it was Rent, next year it will be In the Heights- though that is the 1st show of the year, and it was cast a few weeks ago. There are also numerous other musicals created by studentworks (run by students with faculty advisement), this past year I recall next to normal, 25th annual putnam, and catch me if you can

@Alanb505, many many a very fine MT performer can be found in Atlantic Studio. Atlantic is known for nurturing the MT skillset as part of their program. Your daughter landed very well if that is an interest.
