I have read that some people send additional essays such as the one for the Common App as part of their MIT application. Is this a good idea, and how can I send an additional essay (which section of the MyMIT application)?

It’s a good idea if you think the essay adds some useful information or perspective to your application.

You can put the essay in the box on the application that says something like, “No application can meet the needs of every applicant. If there is something else you would like the admissions office to know, put it in this box.”

Additional essays are for the weak. Don’t do it.

I put my culture essay in the additional info section (it was wayyy too long for the space allotted to it on the regular app). As far as I can tell, if you think it will help your app, go for it.
