additional info?

<p>I am wondering if I should use the additional info section of the commonapp to elaborate on a program i attended this summer. it's a prestigious summer journalism program that was competitive to gain admission to and offered financial aid to many, so it wasn't one that just accepted those who could pay. i am considering also listing it as an academic activity because i am not sure if colleges will look at or consider additional info.</p>

<p>on the other hand, i might use it to explain a unique situation my sophomore year. an extremely close family friend died three days before midterms, heavily effecting my grades (my sophomore GPA is around a 3.5 while all fr & jr years are 3.85s). but would it be better if my counselor just mentioned this in her letter?</p>

<p>You need to complete the additional information with how awesome are you. If you want to be chose you need to be better than others. </p>

<p>In my view you should write a resume and in the resume you should include all awards and all summer programms in all of the years.</p>
