<p>So I applied by the December 1st deadline and didn't get the admission packet.. Since then I created a new common app essay. I was thinking of sending this along with a why usc paragraph to usc... Would they get annoyed or would this legitimately help my chances?</p>

<p>Sorry, but you have submitted your application, they would not review a second one. Otherwise they would have to give everyone of the 30K applicants a chance to submit their essay twice to be fair. It is done. There are a zillion kids, who after time and editing things for other schools would love to submit a more refined essay to the schools they submitted to early on. But that is not an option. You may get admitted in March/April…but it would have to be on the essay and app you already turned in.</p>
<p>i’m sorry it seems you misunderstood me. FIrst it wasn’t a refined essay from the old one. Mostly, I meant doing something similar to what deferred applicants do. From looking at this site, I’ve seen lots of people recommend deferred applicants submit an email/statement outlining the continued interest in the school, etc. I was just wondering if not being accepted for the scholarship is similar to being deferred, and if some people submit this extra email/statement. </p>
<p>You are not deferred. Simply not chosen as a finalist for the scholarship competition along with 27,000 others who submitted their application by Dec 1. USC does not, in fact, defer any applicants as they have no EA or ED round. Of course, any student who accrues new and significant honors/awards since submitting their application may want to email their admissions rep (you can find her/him listed for your region online) with the great news. A short email restating your interest in USC and the new award is always welcome. However, I agree that trying to submit a new essay at this point is not reasonable.</p>
