additional recommendation letter

i know rice only requires one recommendation letter from a teacher...however i have another teacher who wrote me a recommendation, which is good, so i want to send it in through mail, since electronic version only allows one rec.

anyone knows if the admissions committee at rice are ok with additional recommendations???

thx

When I went to an info session at Rice, the admissions counselor said that they only look at one of the recommendations. However, when I asked my interviewer if it was okay for me to send an additional rec from a surgeon that i worked with, he said it was a good idea.

I guess there's no harm in sending it in.

same deal with englandude. The lady at the info session said that she would only read one and that it should come from a teacher in the subject area you intend to major in. As for me, I am a Cog Sci/Bio major, I submitted a rec from my pastor and my APUSH teacher (who had me for less than a semester but we established a nice relationship) and I was admitted ED. In the end, I guess that it doesnt really matter.

Just use common sense.

If your second teacher rec starts to sound like the same thing as your first one, then it could actually possibly hurt your application (due to making them read virtually the same rec letter).
However, if your 2nd teacher will, you believe, write something additional and positive towards your application then, by all means, send it.
