Hey buddies, I am a Junior from Texas making my college list and I was interested in University of Washington. However, I don't know much about its policy toward out of state students, so here's a few questions:

Is admission for out of state students tough? I got a 2040 on my SAT (shooting for a 2100+ next time I take it, and I am in the top 8% and other good stuff.

How is the financial aid for out of state students? I am pretty poor. Is it mostly based on SAT/GPA?

If it helps my situation, I am Hispanic (immigrated from Peru when I was 12).

Thanks.

your golden, you sats are just what they are looking for.
ranking is good,
you must be in ip or ap classes though
uw wants to see your senior year get hard
so 1 ap to 2 aps, if you dont it will cut you chances in half
the aid is terrible, washington is going through some tough times. expect to pay oos, so around 40,000.00 a year.

Interesting. Well, I am in 5 AP classes (out of a total 7) and next year I will be in 6. I think I am fine in that department. I hope they solve their budget problems though! I’ll still apply, hope for the best, and look for scholarships.

Thanks a lot though!

Most public schools don’t like to offer aid to OOS students in general. They accept OOS students for the money. UW is in a particularly bad situation anyway so you should definitely have some alternative schools if you end up not being able to afford the OOS tuition.

If you apply to Honors and are accepted, there are some opportunities for merit scholarships. A friend of mine from California was accepted into Honors and later found that she was awarded full tuition for the entire four years. Of course, this is really difficult to get…

I agree with Goodtime - have some back up schools for worst case senarios.

Thanks for the information, di you guys think I could get into the honors program?
