lol..........................

Do colleges really read these boards?

lol I hope not >.<

Rabo, one of my best friends is going to Grinnell next year. We make fun of her for going to Iowa, "the cornfields!!" But it's a great school, open curriculum, like brown.

maybe i should clarify -- the "why brown" essay perhaps isn't as important as i made it out to be...it's not like everything hinges on it. but just in general, it's a good idea to make your application as personal as possible. if you are overly generic, rigid, or you don't stand out from the crowd....they will call you on that. even if you have a 1600 and 4.0.

answering someone else's question -- yes, the admission office does have separate readers for each region. so all the applications from one region/state will be reviewed by the same reader. then, each app is given to another reader from a different region.

responding to those who asked me if i could find their decision --
honestly, i could if i really wanted to........but for all the obvious reasons, i can't...and my friend can't. i know exactly how you feel -- i was in your position not long ago. you've waited all this time...try to bear it just a couple more weeks~

as of now, they are in the process of eliminating those who are be definitely rejected and accepting those who are definitely in (they might even be done with this stage...i'm not sure). the undecideds will be determined in the coming days and weeks.

my purpose in coming to this forum is not to disclose any kind of sensitive or classified information (which i'm not even be privy to)...i definitely don't want to undermine the admissions process or anything like that. i'm just trying to pass along info that you otherwise might not know....

anyway, feel free to ask any questions if you have any~
holiday.

Holiday, what is your major?

Hey Holiday.
Find out if anyone has submitted any quirky essays (comics, cartoons, etc).
How are these looked upon?

Holiday, is there any way if I can check to see if my supplemental recomendation is in? I called Brown admissions, and they said that they could (but rather just did not want to) not check the status of my supplemental recs. (Actually, it is only one supplemental rec that I would like to know if it made it).

brownsurfer: St. Stephens is not quite a prep factory for my grade. The grades below me are a bit more preppy. I don't know. I have been there since 6th grade and there is quite a stigma put on St. Stephens students.

laurenemma: I did not mean to make such a sweeping generalization. Stephens is definitely a good school and obviously every school has some amount of diversity. Is Brown your first choice? If we get in, us Austinites should unite.

I am not sure of my first choice right now. I have been annoyed by many schools' coaches and brown is amongst them. I will have to visit and see my comfortability with the students and my future classmates(aka all of you fabulous people).

lol. we love you laurenemma.

or do we?...

Tear, inscape. I just need to see how things work out and then decide from there what will be best for me.

that my philosophy too, I'm gonna do a whole lot of flying in april trying to see different colleges before I settle down on a choice. I have never been known for my decisiveness

That way you will stay out of school for the rest of the year after hearing about college. And they will be excused absences.
hehe
That isn't what I'm planning evil grin and giggle.

laurenemma, I Assume you are recruited athlete...? What sport do you play? Have you received likely letters from anywhere? How are the coaches annoying you?

So the interview must have counted for a lot?

and the 'why brown' essay was around a paragraph in size, wasn't it?

i thought the why brown essay was ridiculously short...i think it had like a 500 character limit?

yeah it was that short for me.

So i hope the interview relayed my entuhsiasim

Brownsurfer: I am recruited by 2 other ivies and Brown will not contact me after I e-mail them. I am the level to be very competitive in Division 1. And by the way I am a Rower. I got a likely letter from BU, my last choice, and the other schools have not sent any likely letters from the ivies.
