I am in the top 10% of my high school, and am taking 3 AP, 2 Honors, and 1 college class related to my future major currently in my junior year of high school. I got a 4.0 both semesters of sophomore year and a 4.67 and a 4.5 in my semesters of junior year. My weighted combined 10-11 gpa is 4.29 and unweighted is 3.82. I got a 1940 on the old SAT and a 1380 on the new SAT. I was diagnosed with crohns disease during my junior year which was extremely hard and I still haven’t reached remission, but I persevered and maintained high grades as well as volunteering over 300 hours. Do you think I would have even a remote chance of getting into Stanford or UCLA? UCLA is my dream school and Stanford is amazing as well.
I think by improving your SAT score you have a decent chance to get into UCLA.
I would say your chances are below the typical applicant at Stanford due to low test scores and no hook. So under 5%. Not zero, so apply if you want, but very slim.
I realistically don’t want to take another SAT as I have taken an old and a new and they are relatively consistent. Is there anything else I could do to differentiate myself? I didn’t detail my extensive volunteer work with the Red Cross as a youth council member of the ford youth preparedness council or my years of volunteering for dog shelters.
You need to retake them. Have you tried the ACT? Both are about consistent practice and studying and not as much about natural aptitude.
Seems highly unlikely with those scores. Do you have SAT2s to offset them at all? Yes it is well known that Stanford and UCLA are great schools which is why so many high achieving students apply to them. Your GPA is high but you have no external (from school) support to show that the high GPA in your school is meaningful. Scores put GPAs in to perspective. Even SAT 2s can help do that. Or, all 5s on a bunch of APs (less so but still better than nothing).
Your SAT is right around average for UCLA, actually. So if you’re in state you could probably get in, but if you’re out of state a higher SAT would help a lot.
Stanford is a stretch but if you can afford the app fee there’s no harm in trying.

You have a decent chance for UCLA but Stanford is the most selective school in the country. It might be a stretch
Retake your SAT, you most likely are going to improve. Your scores are not the best; however, Stanford DOES accept students that do not have outstanding scores. Stanford is selective and and my guess(like all colleges) is they want students who are UNIQUE and have a wonderful story to bring with them.
Do NOT let your test scores define who you are, the scores do not even really test intelligence. Your 4.0 GPA is much more essential distinguishing your work ethic throughout high school.
Goodluck to you and God bless.
