Admission to UC San Diego

Hey everbody! ( plz bear with me and read all of this so i can find an answer to stop my current dillema. THX)
Well i am a sophmore at a rural high school near Victorville CA. I had recently transferred back to this skool from a high performing skool called Cerritos HS becuz of my parents. it should be obvious that my current skool is low scoring and has lower level teachers becuz of the fact its in the middle of nowhere! LOL JK(it is true though)! Well anywayz i just recieved my 1st semester report card for 10th grade. It was all A's( for : Honors Engl. 2, AP BIO, SPANISH 2 Honors, PE, Alg 2 honors) except for AP Euro! Well i was freakin mad becuz of the fact that ive always been a straight A student. The reason being to that B was probably due to the fact that there is diff AP Euro policy than the one here. AP Euro in Cerritos was very Very Very hard due to the fact that there wa "the deal"( my teacher was hard but freakin awesome; he wrote one of the AP World study books!). THis deal was that no matter grade the student recieved during the scool year he or she will recieve an A if they pass the AP test with a 3, 4, 5. Due to this fact it was really hard since the school year grades didnt really count and so i got a b- as my transfer grade and probalby the fact that the teachers wanted to scare us so that we'd study more and pass the AP test. Then when i came here that policy was not found instead it was the same straightforward and they were back a few CH's when they started a month earlier! So anywaz it was impossible for me to get that A when i came here because even though i had 300 extra credit points that B- ( 81%)that i recieved for my transfer grade(it was alreadyabout 6/10 of the semester) could not change it to an A no matter how hard i tried.
WEll anywayz do u believe that i can go to UC san Diego if i recieve all A's the next semester and 11th and 12th grades? I also do track and alot of volunteer work and i also do guitar lessons.( i dont have any time these dayz)
I also recieve an 1870 on my PSAT and also im getting tutored( a lot of help) by a perfect score SAT student he went to some IVY league college (think its Harvard)!Im also pretty confident ill get a 2200+ score by the i reach 12th grade when i have to take SAT's! Im also still with that B i am the top 3 or 4 student out of like 900 kids in my class! Im just saying is this really enough to get into a highly competitive school such as UCSD and does the fact that i live in a rural community change my chances?? Also my parents are planning on moving again so does that effect my chances also??

Someone plz give me some feedback!!!!!!!!1

no matter grade the student recieved during the scool year he or she will recieve an A if they pass the AP test with a 3, 4, 5

whoa. i could've gotten A's in all my AP classes with that policy. last year my teacher wouldn't give u an A even if u got a 5.

PLZsome one respond

If you do all that you say you will, you will definetly get into UCSD

izx2:

Can you just give me your stats?

These people arent really helpful : I might just be able to give you real insight.

My sophomore year of high school I messed up...badly. I almost failed out of high school and was dropped from all of my honors/IB/AP courses and ended the year with a GPA of 2.4. I got my ***** together that summer and retook a history class I failed. My junior year I pulled straight A's and I'm currently in my senior year of high school and am in all honors and am partial IB candidate with two AP classes. My GPA is currently 3.4 and with my extra currics and SAT scores I'm as much competition as any other student applying for the same colleges that I am.

IF youre realistic, you can do whatever you want. Be sure to try your best and do as much extra curic as you can and get as much going for you as you're able to. Youre starting off better than I did so I have no doubts you can get into any school, may it be a UC or whatever, if you make a big change. Schools like to admit diverse students - not only the 5.0 kids like the ones on this site (Although they dont mind them ;) ). If youre unique, youll be fine. Good Luck

What is the Avg SAT scores for UCSD?

The average SAT I score for UCSD admits is 1307 on the old SAT I, which translates into approximately 1961 on the new SAT I. Also, the average SAT II Writing score is 649 and the average SAT II Math score is 669.

neobonzi, what you said was true? are you college now?

Yea, I almost dropped out my junior year with a case similar to yours(no I'm not one of these people who scream over B's). Although I was in all AP/honors, my grades were terrible, just terrible. My teachers failed me(I was actually getting good grades on tests) because they...yea. Now even with retake and my 1st sem senior year grades, my academic GPA is still only a 3.67 uw, 4.2 w. I applied to some top colleges but I'm not holding any hope. I just hope I'll get into a decent college.

Can I pm you? I have some personal questions.

UCSD's average SAT score is low because they don't take the best combined scores?

Does living in a rural are and moving often(im moving again this summer) help increase chances for college admission and by the way my family has no income!

you can PM me id be happy to answer any Q. Im currently applying to colelges, though ive been admitted to all states except Cal poly so far (its not rolling like hte others).

I actually got 2 b's not one. A b+ in Honors English 2! Im freakin mad> Does this significantly reduce my chances to go to UC SD or something as prestigious as UCSD??

UCSD is not as presitigious as you think. It's very good, but not THAT good.

DOes that mean i can get there even if i get a 3.5 GPA and a 2100 SAT??

3.5 weighted or unweighted? UC's only care about ur weighted. And UCSD only weight some of ur courses, which suck .

Uw!!!!have To Make The Message Longer!!!

well then. maybe u'll get in if u took hard classes. if u don't, go to berkeley or la. i mean, u have to have DECENT EC's.

What? IF he can't get into UCSD, there's no way he can get into UCLA and UCB
