Hey everyone! I may be able to clear up some of your questions…I’m a current UCSD student and my younger sister is waiting to hear back from them as well as other UCs, so I’ve been keeping up with all these early calling campaigns.

The first calling campaign which went on from early march until I think the 11th was only for Staff calling URMs, however during the first couple of days I was able to log in (though I think this was a mistake because after that I had to “register” to participate and was not able to) so I can confirm that it was only URMs (and that included African American, Latino, Asian and Alaska Native/American Indian).

There is a second campaign or “phone-a-thon” going on now that students are able to participate in through a program here called SPACES, and I believe they’re calling a wider range of prospective freshman. This campaign goes until the 16th, which is when decisions will be posted on MyApplication. So, if you haven’t received a call don’t worry! You could still get one, or may not even get one at all even if you are admitted since there are lots of admits of course!

Good luck everyone :)

Quick questions:

Are TAG CC transfers getting phone calls (soon)?
Are TAG CC transfers eligible for Regents?

I’m OOS (Illinois) and URM (Hispanic) but haven’t received a call, so I hope kp91891 is right and the calls are random. I’m crossing my fingers until Saturday…

The calls are only for incoming freshman, not transfers. & as far as how they work, when I was able to log in I could control who I decided to call by searching by College within UCSD, state, etc. But it only pulls up one person at a time. So it’s really just a matter of who they get through with however many students are participating in the phone a thon. I eventually was able to see the full list of people through the first calling campaign that were in the system by logging a call and searching by last name, and there were A LOT. So like I said, don’t worry, it definitely doesn’t mean you didn’t get in if you don’t get a call.

Let it be known they are calling cell phones as well even though a majority of phonees are being contacted at home.

^I’m going to start leaving my cell phone on 24/7.
One more day…

kp91891, thanks for the (reassuring) info! (:

Got couple calls with unkwon display today. Is there a number that can call back to verify?

^858 area code should be visible.

OMG. So I was looking through my phone’s list of recent calls again (feeling kinda depressed after I answered an ‘Out of Area’ call, all excited – but it was a robocall ad) and I saw that one of the caller IDs was ‘UNIV OF CA SD’ and 858 area code! But they called me yesterday when I happened to be out for only two hours for a meeting and no one else was home, and they didn’t leave a message so I didn’t know they called until now… If they called, does that mean for sure that I got Regents? (I didn’t apply for engineering and I’m not an URM.) There’s no other reason to call, right?

I really really really hope I got Regents! UCSD is my top choice at the moment and Regents will seal the deal, but if I don’t get Regents, then I have to debate over whether going to LA/Berkeley (assuming I get in) or Davis/Irvine (with Regents) would be a better choice… Ahhh waiting until tomorrow for official decisions is agonizing!

They called my house phone a couple hours ago, at around 7:30 PM PST. I guess they really are going to continue calling right up to the very end!

Calls don’t guarantee Regents status archaic, sorry. Only admission. Details of SPACES and Regents Scholarships are brought up to certain applicants but not ALL.
