So, I've been emailing my admissions counselor, since I was waitlisted, but she doesn't say much back to me in the email.

It's generally two or three sentences per email; does this mean anything? She is very prompt in responding; I generally have an email response from her the very next day.

Does it mean that UChicago isn't really interested in admitting me off the waitlist and she is just responding to be courteous? Or is this what they all do?

It's really irking me, and I would like to know.

I think you are reading too much into this. They all must be very busy dealing with admitted students.

WhatsA Username, please do not worry. Most of our admissions counselors receive up to a hundred e-mails a day from admitted students, waitlisted students, and general inquires. While we hope to be able to provide a personal response to every email, in many cases where a student is not asking a specific question, we will only be able to briefly respond.

UChicago, to ask a similar question, will we receive acknowledgments of our wait list emails, or can we take it on faith that they’ve been received? I sent my e-mail a couple of days ago to internationaladmissions@uchicago.edu, and haven’t received a response. Is there any way to know if the e-mail’s been received? Thanks!

Canhaz, while we try to respond personally to each e-mail from waitlisted students, sometimes we are not able to do so-- especially the international team, most of whom are currently on extended international recruitment travel. Please do not worry if your email has not received a personal response; we try to focus our time on thoroughly reading it and making sure it makes its way in to your file.
