I think everyone is super anxious for a decision and when we all start hearing about decision’s coming through we naturally get anxious and start to question why our children haven’t heard yet. I look at it from the “no news is good news” perspective. The non answer group here still has a shot. If they didn’t then I would think the rejection would have already come through.
@jakeybake - So true. Until the decision comes out, one never knows.
Has anyone heard back from University of Cincinnati ? If yes, can you post when you heard back from them. I know this thread is primarily for OSU applicants.
@dreamed I haven’t heard from UC yet which has surprised me quite a bit considering my stats are much higher than all of their averages and I’d be a 3rd generation Bearcat. However I have seen quite a few people on Twitter with significantly lower stats post about getting accepted. So I have no clue how UC is going about the admissions process but I was getting nervous when I read about that Tuft’s Syndrome thing but I think I’m being anxious for no reason. I’m just a little impatient since it’s my top choice Curious to know if anyone else on this OSU thread has heard from UC yet though.
@kayleighbrown - I know what you mean. I submitted my form on Oct12th. All materials (ACT, Transcripts, Recommendation letters) were sent to them in Sept. The “Check my status” page shows they have received everything. But when I call the college they keep telling me it will take them 2-3 to process the material and then 6-8 weeks to review the material. That puts us in December end. The college website states their admission office will be closed sometime later in the month in Dec…Some of my friends with lower stats have received their decision. I wonder what decision method UC is using, as I believe they are rolling admissions college …I am eager to know if anyone else is experiencing the same issue as us.
Posts about UC should go on the UC thread.
@partyof5 - Agreed. I could not find that “thread”. Feel free to share if you know…
@partyof5 - Thanks!
Son’s application is still being evaluated. Applied 10/31 to Engineering (undecided) and the Honors program.
ACT 34
GPA 4.2
7 AP’s between this year and last
Academic team
Science bowl
Volunteering
Hope to hear soon. Also applied to Purdue, UC, Miami and Northwestern. Haven’t heard anything yet, but UC and Miami deadline was 12/01 and applied regular decision to NW 1/1/16
@kayleighbrown A state school wouldn’t acquire “Tuft’s Syndrome”. They get loads of highly qualified students who could probably go somewhere “better” but don’t for various reasons (cost, distance, etc.)
Phew that’s good to hear, I’m just a little paranoid. Thanks @cheeki2breeki !
I was accepted into Ohio State Friday Dec. 4, and my online profile says,
“Program: Business
Plan: BS in Business Administration”
How do I know if I have been accepted into the Fisher School of Business?
When does the scholarship and honors stuff come out? and how do I apply for Eminence?
Merit aid out of state (OOS) scholarship letters get sent in batches (National Buckeye plus Maximus get sent first, followed by National Buckeye plus Provost or Trustee) starting about 4 weeks after your portal changed to acceptance. The first letter you should receive is the official acceptance letter to the Ohio State University. Invites to the Scholars program (for applicants who submitted supplemental essay and applied for it) started going out in early January, followed a few weeks later by invites to the Honors program. The letters were not issued all at once. My son did not receive Honors invite until mid February. If you haven’t heard by mid February it may help you to call and show interest in the program. As for how to apply for Eminence, I don’t know. Check the Ohio State University website for instructions on how to apply.
@trackmbe3 - Very helpful comments about the timeline. This year got in the 1st batch, within 2 weeks received official letter, got a follow-up call from OSU (3rd student), if I had any questions, now waiting for the Scholars, Honors and Morrill results…waiting is hard :-S
@james1998iq apply for Eminence Fellows Scholarship at https://hsapp.osu.edu/emap/
@Alwaysabuckeye - Quick question / clarification, on the Eminence Fellows Scholarship at https://hsapp.osu.edu/emap/ .
******** On the The Ohio State University Questions on The Common Application, indicate your interest in being considered for the University Honors Program. Students who are awarded the Eminence Scholarship are required to be members of the Honors Program ************
It states that this scholarship is applicable only for students who have applied to Honors program. Students applied to Scholars program is ineligible…then ?? Is there a link for scholarship for students that have applied for Scholars program ?
Eminence Scholarship is only available to those also accepted to the Honors program. You are not eligible to apply unless you have also applied for honors.
So those who get into the Scholars program are automatically disqualified from Eminence consideration.
@dreamed Correct, @jumbletumbles is right. My brother is a sophomore Eminence Fellow and in the Honors program… you are required to be a part of Honors to be an Eminence Fellow.
