Admissions Decisions - Class of 2022

My son received an email Wednesday that his application for the Eminence Scholarship would not be reviewed because he had not applied to Honors. This was incorrect. He had to call and email to get it resolved. We hope it is truly resolved.

@moleculardreams It was in an email yesterday.

Anyone get a decision yet today?

If decisions do come out today they don’t start rolling out until later in the day and for the last few rounds they rolled out late into the evening.

Really wasn’t expecting to be deferred at all. Super bummed out.

I am pretty bummed as this is my first choice school. Would it give me an edge if I sent in my grades for last semester?

@Fafjoe22 (and anyone deferred) definitely send your admissions counselor a brief note expressing OSU is your first choice and spell out your first semester grades. Then tell the admissions counselor you will have you HS counselor send your grades officially. If you’ve performed well first semester and if tough classes it could make a difference. Good luck!!

Son also deferred.

A bit surprised given the high ACT and NM semifinal.

Have a friend whose status just changed to “Referred for second review and will hear in March.” Has anyone (current or past) received that status? Wondering if it is the same thing as deferred/waitlisted?

@osumom28 It is the same as deferred. Status is “deferred” and that is the explanation.

@osumom28 Deffered is different from waitlisted, deferred willl hear in March while waitlisted will hear after deferred and are admitted on a space available basis. Some years the whole waitlist goes in and others no one goes in, then in other years some get in.

@artsyg Does anyone get waitlisted at this point? Or is it just deferred, accepted, rejected?

@fraidycat my son also just found out he was deferred. 35 ACT. 3.37 UW 4.18 W. Steadily improving grades. Four year engineering academy in HS. Eagle Scout, Marching band. Lifeguard.

@StrGzrMaryland I wonder if anyone will get accepted today? Maybe they took all the remaining EA candidates and deferred them to regular admission. They have to be reviewing regular admission apps at this point also. End of March is only two months away and they had 3+ months to review the EA pool and didn’t get through them all.

My son got deferred, too. ACT 28; GPA 3.78: Highest level AP Math and Science courses; works 15-20 hours; high-ranked Ohio high school.
It’s really odd that there have been so many deferreds. Although, I guess if it’s like previous release dates (last Friday and the ones in December and November) the Accepteds start rolling in later.
I guess we shall see!

By the way, does anyone know of any statistics for how many applicants who were deferred actually get in?

@fraidycat, waitlisted comes after they have admitted who they want from EA and regular admissions. At this point it should still be accepted, deferred or rejected. Usually acceptances come later after deferred and rejected or it at least has in the past years.

Thanks @artsyg. @psuziggy - That makes sense - I’ll check back in a few hours to see if there are a lot of acceptances posted.

@psuziggy It usually varies from year to year.

Just got deferred too,

I’m a little confused too, wasn’t expecting this.
