Admissions Decisions - Class of 2022

Is anyone still waiting to hear from Scholars? Can’t sign up for Orientation until we know.

Still waiting here too

Thank you @c0llegeQs. Hope we both hear this week.

@c0llegeQs my daughter is still waiting too… I just read on the website that OSU had 52,000 freshman applicants this year with 7,136 spots to fill

@kimbo42 Luckily they also overfill because of the number of people that don’t choose to attend, so they’re probably accepting around 22,000

When are they going to release decisions?

As of 3/25 acceptance for OSU Columbus stands at 24,213 for Fall 2018. This number is higher than the total acceptance for Fall 2017 of 22.913. Application are about the same for both years at about 52,500. So far they are accepting more students this year.

@slcc10 what is your planned major?

That’s Great! I hope my daughter gets one of the spots

Just received financial aid information today on my application status.

Has anyone received an answer this week? Should I stop checking my status and wait until Friday/Saturday

@slayld I mean no one has posted about a decision during the week but that’s not stopping me from compulsively checking five times a day.

@Meismeis were you able to see your Financial Aid Shopping Sheet?

I called admissions regarding my son’s 1/26 deferral (he is going to be on campus this weekend so it would be great to have an answer by then). Person in admissions told me that they owed the kids who applied by 2/1 a decision by 3/31 and then they’ll look at deferrals after that. I told her that I strongly believed that there were kids who were previously deferred who already had a final decision. She said he’d have an answer on his application in time to make a decision by 5/1. So they promised an answer to his EA application by mid January and came through with a deferral on 1/26 (which isn’t mid January in my opinion). At that time I think he said they promised him a final answer by 3/31 and looks like they are no longer keeping that commitment either. I don’t think it’s at the top of his list but he hasn’t been quick to make a final decision of which college to attend and in the back of my mind I’m wondering if this is what’s keeping him from deciding (probably not). An interesting part of the conversation is she said that they can’t be expected to be able to tell you when they’ll get you an answer, because they have so many applications to review. I suggested that it’s probably worth considering not making commitments (mid January–missed, now apparently they’ll also miss the 3/31 commitment) if they know they can’t meet them. Definitely not expecting an acceptance at this point (but the chances of him getting the National Buckeye, which he meets the stat cut offs for are about nil, which makes it non-workable financially anyway).

Are the chances higher for inner states students than outer state students?

I got a full scholarship. I’m crying so hard. My dream come true.

@neptuna Congratulations, it is so great to hear students dreams being fulfilled! Are you in state or out of state? Did you apply regular decision?

@neptuna congrats

Thats great. When did your decision come?

@H0llyw00d @kimbo42 @slayld Thanks so much! I applied early action in-state and got my decision mid-January.
