Admissions Decisions

My kids have never been on CC and, to be honest, this site can you make you crazy with speculation, false insight, and downright incorrect information (having said that last year I, too, fell into the spell of the CC “knowledge” while we waited for the Admissions letter. Today is my first day back and presumably my last). Last year the information from those claiming inside information was so wrong. One example? My son (EA applicant), in CA, was supposed to learn of his fate two to three days later than those who were local, or in the Midwest. In fact, he learned of his acceptance within two days of the mailings. The local and Midwest mail was delayed by weather and ultimately received days after my son’s. All three of my kids were privileged to have been accepted to ND and two are now graduates with my youngest being a freshman. However, if they had not been accepted they had wonderful options for many fine schools and they would have been happy and thrived. For those who have not read this from last year, you might want to. http://enrollmentdivision.nd.edu/news/47736-a-more-qualified-pool-than-ever-before/. You will see that there are factors that go into the acceptances that are just outside of your control (four Admissions goals and the “EQ”). You are all smart, engaged, and committed kids who will thrive wherever you enroll. Good luck making your own histories, wherever you go!

Accepted from NJ- 2270 SAT, 3.8-9ish UW GPA

Anybody else rejected and now planning on going to Michigan? GO BLUE!

Yes!!! @illinoisgolf, I committed last week! and to ND rejects don’t be disappointed in going to Michigan, I personally prefer it over Notre Dame! Ann Arbor over South Bend any day, and the academic reputation is on par to Notre Dame, not to mention Michigan’s alumni is much more vast than Notre Dame’s!

Still waiting in Oxnard, CA. I got accepted to Northwestern today completely out of the blue, so I’m hoping for the best, but I will not be totally as devastated if I don’t get in as I would have been.

@jhuff11 what part of NJ are you in?

@faf3721 North Jersey

sucking wind in Richmond, VA. Really, really hoping to hear by tomorrow.

Anyone from NY - Long Island receive anything today? Accept/ reject? Thanks…

I know a friend in my town who was accepted today. Small town outside of Boston, MA, so they’re all over the map geographically

hi there! i have a few friends who received their rejection letters today :frowning: (we’re in SoCal), but I didn’t receive anything at all and we only live about 15-20 minutes from each other. I was surprised at how quickly the letters arrived. Is it possible that my letter is just a bit delayed (rejection/waitlist), or is it possible that a larger package is delaying its arrival? I’m by no means expecting an acceptance, actually quite the opposite. Just curious…and getting anxious too (of course!)

im in socal tooo and have not received anything how long do you think its gonna take :frowning:

After I had told my family about the acceptance and everything settled down, I went to my room and seriously collapsed crying. I don’t know how to explain it but it felt like I had finally reached the light at the end of the tunnel after all those incredibly tough times, working hour after hour, and I just felt like I finally made it. I don’t deserve this in the least bit but I feel like someone up there was looking out for me and decided to open a door for me. College admissions is an emotional rollercoaster. I wish every single one of you the best in all your endeavors and am satisfied knowing that each one of you will accomplish amazing things at whichever institution is lucky enough to have you.

@homeless2harvard stop selling yourself short! Congrats…Admission officers likely are of an age where “life experience” like you have had factors greatly. Enjoy and move forward realizing you would not have been invited to the party if you did not belong. Hold your head up and never apologize! You are clearly a humble responsible who has worked so very hard. ENJOY! God Bless you and your family. Your story makes you who you are…and more than good enough!

@McMoms‌ Thank you so much for your kind words. I sincerely appreciate them and wish you and your family the best as well!

I received a likely letter a month ago and I’m waiting to see if these likely letters are true to heart. Still no mail, hopefully it comes in tomorrow. Good luck to all that are still waiting!

Can I know what the likely letter said?
@k4vglitcher‌ also, best of luck!!

@Jr12317‌
“We have reviewed your application for admission and are convinced that you are likely to be admitted to Notre Dame, and that you have much to contribute to the academic, social, and spiritual life on our campus. We would like to offer you an opportunity to gain a better sense of our academic resources and campus community so that you can make an informed decision about where you will spend your collegiate years.”

Came in very early in the admission process so hopefully they didn’t forget about me haha!

Well done @k4vglitcher‌. For sure they haven’t forgot you. You will receive something soon.

Mail came extremely early today – record breaking 9AM – and nothing in CT. Just heard Governor Chrisite’s daughter is attending, so I guess some acceptances made it to NJ yesterday!
