Hello, I just wanted to know if l have a good chance of getting accepted into computer engineering at UTD. I am in top 15% of my class, and have a 4.3 weighted & 3.6 unweighted GPA. I got a 1420 on the new SAT with a 3|3|3 essay score. I have taken AP Calc BC, AP Chemistry, and apush. During senior yr I plan on taking AP Physics and AP computer science. I am in NHS and have volunteered at various places. Would l also be eligible for a scholarship?
Thank you so much
You will definitely be accepted and you should be considered for an AES scholarship. Probably the Achievement level of $3000/semester. If you got your SAT score up a bit, 50 points or more, you would be in line for the next level of scholarship which is full tuition plus $1000/sem. The average ACT score for that level is 32 if you have taken the ACT. I would apply in the fall semester. If there was another SAT or ACT in early Sept., you could take that and wait for results but then I would apply. Show interest in the school and good luck!
Thanks! So you mean to say that I still have a very high chance into getting accepted with a 1420 right?
Yes, you are definitely accepted and again I think with the 1420 SAT score you could receive the Achievement level of scholarship of $3000/sem. It is not guaranteed but your scores are in line with it. Every year it does get more competitive though. If you wanted a greater scholarship you would need to increase your scores by 50+ points. Either way, apply early (in the fall, probably before 11/1). I do believe that increases your chances for the scholarship.
